Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he enjoys the speculation surrounding his future and the stories being written about him. Ibrahimovic is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and has had concrete offers from England, Italy and other clubs, including some outside of Europe. The 34-year-old said last week he has already made a decision about his future and what his next move will be, with speculation suggesting he could be set to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. Sky Sports News HQ understands he has also been considering an offer from China and that United are not prepared to match the financial terms Ibrahimovic can earn from an unnamed Super League club, worth £53m over two seasons. But his agent Mino Raiola said on Saturday they have yet to decide their next move, and insists they are in no hurry to rush to a conclusion. Could Ibrahimovic be reunited with former boss Jose Mourinho? The Sweden international held a news conference on Wednesday morning and, when asked about his future, he said he wants stories to keep being written about him.I want to still write a lot of stories, he said. LOS ANGELES -- The Milwaukee Bucks caught the Los Angeles Lakers in one of their worst ruts in decades, and Brandon Knight was able to take full advantage. Knight scored 18 of his career-high 37 points in the third quarter, and the team with the NBAs worst record beat the injury-jinxed Lakers 94-79 on Tuesday night. "My teammates did a great job of running the floor and running the lanes and creating plays for one another, and I think that opened it up for me and a lot of other guys," Knight said. "But it started with our defence. We got after it. Part of that was them missing shots, but I want to give credit to our guys for contesting those shots." The Lakers ended the year the same way they began it -- with six straight losses. They had never ended a calendar year with more than three consecutive defeats in any of the franchises 65 previous seasons. Los Angeles will begin the new year 13-19 -- the teams first losing record since the 2002-03 season, when they also started out 13-19 following their third straight championship. The year was a distinctly sobering one for the Lakers, who mourned the passing of flamboyant owner Jerry Buss, longtime executive Bill Sharman and Vern Mikkelsen, who helped the team win four NBA titles in Minneapolis. They also got swept in the first round of the playoffs and had star-crossed Kobe Bryant in the lineup for only six games so far this season. Adding insult to Bryants injuries was the end of a 320-game home sellout streak last month. "I know an historic franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers will be fine," said Bucks forward Caron Butler, who spent the 2004-05 season with the Lakers. "Not having Jerry Buss at the helm anymore is a significant loss, but Jeanie and Jim and the rest of the Buss family know the business of basketball. They know the legacy of their father, and to restore that would be a wonderful feeling." Pau Gasol and Nick Young scored 25 points each for the Lakers, who shot 35.8 per cent from the field. Young, who led the team in scoring in each of the previous six games as a reserve, made his seventh start of the season. Gasol, who had missed three straight games and four of the previous six because of a sinus infection and bronchitis, returned to a talent-starved Lakers lineup already missing Bryant, Steve Nash and Steve Blake. Point guard Jordan Farmar played 21 scoreless minutes in his fourth game since returning from a torn hamstring, and sat out the fourth quarter after the hamstring tightened up. "We are down at the bottom," said coach Mike DAntoni, who used his eighth different starting lineup in as many games and 17th in 32 contests. "The injuries have torn everybody up, but we have to band together and figure it out. I thought Pau played hard, though he was rusty at first. He didnt look good in the first quarter, but then he picked it up." Trailing by 20 points with 9:43 remaining, the Lakers closed to 86-79 with a 26-4 run capped by Kendall Marshalls 3-pointer with 3:21 to play. But the determined Bucks were able to close it out for their second victory in 10 games. The Lakers were coming off narrow losses to Utah and Philadelphia, who entered Tuesday a combined 19-45 and last in their respective divisions when they faced them. DAntonis undermanned squad was even worse against a Milwaukee lineup that came in 6-24. But the Bucks beat them for the fourth time in five meetings, after winning only five of the previous 30. The Lakers missed their first 11 shots while the Bucks opened the game with a 14-0 run. Los Angeles didnt get its first field goal until Gasol hit a 14-footer from the lane with 5:08 left in the first quarter, but Milwaukee extended its margin to 21-4 on Ersan Ilyasovas 19-footer about 2 minutes later. Luke Ridnour made his fourth start of the season for Milwaukee and scored 11 points in 36 minutes. Frontcourt swingman John Henson missed his second straight game because of a high left ankle sprain that occurred on Dec. 20, and is expected to be sidelined for at least two more contests. NOTES: The Bucks, who entered the NBA in 1968-69, are 2-6 on New Years Eve. The only other victory came on the final day of 1969, when they beat the San Diego Rockets 143-126 in regulation with 35 points from future Laker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. ... The Lakers are 8-4 on New Years Eve and 4-2 since moving from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. ... Lakers reserve G Xavier Henry was sidelined for the first time this season because of a bone bruise and cartilage abnormality in his right knee, and F Wesley Johnson didnt play because of gastroenteritis. He was 83.The Cubs announced Banks death, but did not provide a cause.Banks hit 512 home runs during his 19-year career and was fond of saying, Its a great day for baseball. Lets play two! In fact, that finish to his famous catchphrase adorns his statue outside Wrigley Field. And on a cold winter night Friday, the ballpark marquee carried the sad news for the entire town to see: Ernie Banks. Mr. Cub. 1931-2015.Words cannot express how important Ernie Banks will always be to the Chicago Cubs, the city of Chicago and Major League Baseball. He was one of the greatest players of all time, Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said in a statement. He was a pioneer in the major leagues. And more importantly, he was the warmest and most sincere person Ive ever known.Approachable, ever optimistic and kind hearted, Ernie Banks is and always will be Mr. Cub. My family and I grieve the loss of such a great and good-hearted man, but we look forward to celebrating Ernies life in the days ahead.Though he was an 11-time All-Star from 1953-71, Banks never reached the post-season. The Cubs, who havent won the World Series since 1908, finished below .500 in all but six of his seasons and remain without a pennant since 1945.Still, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977, the first year he was eligible, and was selected to baseballs All-Century team in 1999.Banks infectious smile and non-stop good humour despite his teams dismal record endeared him to Chicago fans, who voted him the best player in franchise history. One famous admirer, actor Bill Murray, named his son Homer Banks Murray. In 2013, Banks was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom — by a noted Chicago White Sox fan, President Barack Obama. The award is one of the nations highest civilian honours.Ernie Banks was more than a baseball player. He was one of Chicagos greatest ambassadors. He loved this city as much as he loved — and lived for — the game of baseball, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. This year, during every Cubs game, you can bet that No. 14 will be watching over his team. And if were lucky, itll be a beautiful day for not just one ballgame, but two.Banks No. 14 was the first number retired by the Cubs, and it hangs on a flag from the left-field foul pole at Wrigley Field.Id like to get to the last game of the World Series at Wrigley Field and hit three homers, he once said. That was what I always wanted to do.But even without an opportunity to play on the October stage, Banks left an indelible mark that still resonates with fans and athletes from all sports.Ernie Banks... We are going to all miss you. #Legend, quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted as he and the Seattle Seahawks were getting ready to defend their Super Bowl title.Banks was playing for the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues when the Cubs discovered him iin 1953, and purchased his contract for $10,000.dddddddddddd He made his major league debut at shortstop on Sept. 17 that year, and three days later hit his first home run.Tall and thin, Banks didnt look like a typical power hitter. He looked even less so as he stood at the plate, holding his bat high and wiggling it as he waited for pitches. But he had strong wrists and a smooth, quick stroke, and he made hitting balls out of the park look effortless. When he switched to a lighter bat before the 1955 season, his power quickly became apparent. He hit 44 homers that season, including three against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 4. His five grand slams that year established a major league record that stood for more than 30 years before Don Mattingly hit six in 1987.Banks best season came in 1958, when he hit .313 with 47 homers and 129 RBIs. Though the Cubs went 72-82 and finished sixth in the National League, Banks edged Willie Mays and Hank Aaron for his first MVP award. He was the first player from a losing team to win the NL MVP.Banks won the MVP again in 1959, becoming the first NL player to win it in consecutive years, even though the Cubs had another dismal year. Banks batted .304 with 45 homers and a league-leading 143 RBIs.He led the NL in homers again in 1960 with 41, his fourth straight season with 40 or more. His 248 homers from 1955-60 were the most in the majors, topping even Aaron and Mays.Mr Cub. What you have done for the game of baseball the city of Chicago and everyone you have ever touched will never be forgotten. RIP, tweeted Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo.Though Banks didnt break the 40-homer barrier again after 1960, he topped the 100-RBI mark three more times, including 1969, his last full season. Then 38, he hit .253 with 23 home runs and 106 RBIs, and was chosen an All-Star for an 11th time.On May 12, 1970, he hit his 500th home run at Wrigley Field, becoming only the eighth player at the time to reach the plateau.Banks retired after the 1971 season. He owned most of the Cubs career slugging records, some of which still stand today.Known mostly for his power at the plate, Banks was a solid fielder, too. He is best known as a shortstop, where he won a Gold Glove in 1960, but he switched to first base in 1962. He played 1,259 games at first and 1,125 games at shortstop.Born and raised in Dallas, Banks would be bribed to play catch by his father, who always wanted him to be a baseball player. Banks grew to love the game and was a standout in high school, along with participating in football, basketball and track and field. He joined a barnstorming Negro Leagues team at 17 and was spotted by Cool Papa Bell, who signed him to the Monarchs in 1950. Banks played one season before going into the Army. He returned to Kansas City after he was discharged, playing one more season before joining the Cubs.He was one of the great crossover baseball players of his day, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said. His personality was a racial bridge builder. He treated all people with dignity and respect. He never stopped reaching out to bridge the racial chasms. RIO DE JANEIRO - Rio de Janeiro will not make good on its Olympic pledge of slashing the flow of raw sewage and garbage into the Guanabara Bay, where the 2016 games sailing and wind surfing competitions are to be held, the states top environmental official acknowledged Friday.Brazilian officials promise to cut the flow of pollutants into the bay by 80 per cent was a key part of the citys Olympic bid document and widely held up as among the most enduring legacies of the games. But with just 1 1/2 years to go before the showcase event, it has become increasingly clear that the target wouldnt be met.Rios new state Environment Secretary, Andre Correa, told reporters he couldnt provide an estimate of how much officials would actually succeed in cutting the flow of pollutants into the bay.Removing 80 per cent of the pollutants? Its not going to happen, its not going to happen, said Correa, who took office earlier this month.Still, he insisted that regardless of how far the cleanup progresses, the Olympic events wont be compromised. From the point of view of the Olympics, the point of view of water quality, what Ive said about the 80 per cent does not at all affect the courses for the sailing events, Correa said. Theres no big risk for sailors having troubles with illnesses and such things.Im not worried about the water quality in those areas, Im much more worried about floating garbage there, he said, adding that the so-called eco-barriers, nets that are strung along the mouth of rivers and meant to filter out garbage before it enters the bay, arent working well at all.Im going to change that, he promised.Sailors associations have expressed reservations about water quality as well as the garbage, both of which they say could harm sailors health. Olympic sailors have described the 2016 venue as a sewer, complaining of the stench at the events main venue, the Gloria Marina, and describing having to dodge floating sofas, animal carcasses, and plastic trash bags that foul rudders in the open waters. A few sailors have said they got sick after falling into the bay.Correa said he wasnt sure whether Olympic authorities have been informed that the cleanup pledge will not be met. With most of the sewage in the greater Rio area flowing untreated into area rivers, its showcase beaches and the bay, Correa estimated a $3.8 billion investment would be needed to bring sewerage to the entire metropolitan area. With no timetable for the release of such sums, its unclear when that might happen, he said. The bay cleanup has been a sore spot in Rios fitful Olympic preparations almost since the city won the games back in 2009. Environmentalists have consistently warned that even with the clock ticking, nearly nothing has been done.Last year, The Associated Press obtained a letter to then-Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo, in which Rios states former environment secretary acknowledged in a best-case scenario that pollution flowing into the bay could be cut to over 50 per cent — well below the promised reduction of 80 per cent. Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes later said he was sorry that we did not use the games to get Guanabara Bay completely clean.Rios pledges to clean up the bay stretch back decades, with generous funding consistently reaping little in the way of concrete advances. While the decline of industry in Rio helped cut down on the levels of heavy metals in the bay, the galloping spread of informal, unplanned favela slums and other settlements has helped turn much of the once-crystalline bay into a virtual open sewer. An overpowering stench emanates from much of the bay, and beaches are off-limits for swimmers. Tons of household trash line the bays coastline and form islands of refuse. Kemba Walker Jersey . The World Series champions finalized a $32 million, two-year agreement Thursday with the slugging former catcher who turned into a surprisingly good defender.ALAMEDA, Calif. - Khalil Mack has done just about everything the Oakland Raiders have asked of him his rookie season. He has solidified the run defence with his ability to fight off blocks and get into the backfield, pressured quarterbacks consistently as a pass rusher and forced offences to alter their game plans. The only thing lacking so far from Mack is something he was supposed to get frequently: a quarterback sack. Through seven games, Mack is still seeking his first sack despite being compared to pass rushing specialist Von Miller when he was drafted fifth overall in May. Its something thats kind of sitting on my mind, Mack said. All my teammates talk about it. It will come soon enough but even then Im working hard to get there. Mack has come awfully close, especially in recent weeks. He has been credited with 15 quarterback hurries and hits the past three games, according to Pro Football Focus, and his 22 pressures for the season are the most for any player without a sack. The consistent pressure is bound to lead to sacks soon enough. They will come, defensive co-ordinator Jason Tarver said. Keep pressuring the heck out of them, making sure everybody knows who you are and where is 52 and that stuff will happen. As long as hes around the ball, were happy. While Mack has lacked sacks, he has not lacked praise. Opposing quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Brian Hoyer singled him out after the past two games for his stellar play. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson called him a spectacular player who was playing like the defensive rookie of the year heading into Sundays game against the Seahawks. He jumps off the film, Seattle coach Peete Carroll said.dddddddddddd Every one of our coaches, when they break up and start looking at the Raiders and taking seriously what theyre doing well, everybody comes back talking about him. Hes almost unblockable and hes got a great motor. Hes fast, hes tough, hes instinctive. We think hes an obvious factor. Mack played down the wide-spread praise he has received in recent weeks, saying it means nothing until the Raiders (0-7) have more success on the field. Its gratifying in a personal aspect but you want to go out and win the game, he said. It can mean something once you stamp a win. But were still working on that win. All you see out there is hunger for a win. Mack has been dominant against the run, where he is the biggest reason for a dramatic turnaround in recent weeks by the Raiders. Oakland has allowed just 2.9 yards per carry in October, second to Denver for the NFL lead. Mack is tied with Tampa Bays Lavonte David for the NFL lead with 8 1/2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage against the run, including 5 1/2 the past two weeks. Hes going to be measured in whether or not he sacks the quarterback, but I would just say that its been a long time since Ive seen somebody do that in the run game, interim coach Tony Sparano said. What he did in the run game to an opponent, this guy Khalil has just really dominated. NOTES: CB Carlos Rogers (knee) did not practice for a second straight day with a knee injury and his status is unknown for Sunday. ... TE David Ausberry (foot), CB Chimdi Chekwa (hamstring), CB Keith McGill (groin), WR Vincent Brown (hamstring) and WR Kenbrell Thompkins (personal issues) also did not practice. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - No coach has more post-season wins than Bill Belichick. No quarterback has been to more Super Bowls than Tom Brady. And these New England Patriots are so much more than that dynamic duo, as the overwhelmed Indianapolis Colts learned.Belichick and Brady earned their sixth trip to the big game — and Belichick got his 21st post-season win — with the second-most lopsided AFC championship ever, 45-7 before a raucous, rain-soaked crowd Sunday night.I only have one thing to say. Were on to Seattle, Belichick said, adapting the rallying cry he repeated, Were on to Cincinnati, after a loss at Kansas City dropped the Patriots to 2-2.The Patriots (14-4) will face the defending champion Seahawks (14-4) for the NFL title on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Arizona. The stoic Belichick will match wits with the enthusiastic Pete Carroll, whom he replaced as Patriots coach 2000. The Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in overtime in the NFC title game.Brady threw three touchdown passes, LeGarrette Blount ran 30 times for 148 yards and three scores and the Patriots scored touchdowns on four straight possessions after leading just 17-7 at halftime.I know weve had some ups and downs this year, Brady said, but right now were up, baby, and were going to try to stay up for one more game.Quarterback Andrew Luck and the Colts have a long wait for their next game. The No. 1 draft choice in 2012 had the worst performance of his career and the fourth rout in his four games against the Patriots, all by at least three touchdowns. He completed 12 of 33 passes for 126 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Its hard to find much good (in the season) fresh off this game, Luck said. We had our sights set higher. In his first season as a starter in 2001, Brady led the Patriots to a Super Bowl win, starting a run of three championships in four years. Now he and Belichick have a chance for their first in 10 years. The list of milestones is long:__ Brady surpassed John Elway for most Super Bowls for a quarterback and tied defensive lineman Mike Lodish for most by any player.__ Belichick tied Don Shula for most Super Bowls for a coach and broke a tie with Tom Landry for post-season win.__ New England tied Dallas and Pittsburgh for most appearances in the big game with eight. Brady completed 23 of 35 passes for 226 yards before being replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo with 3:20 left. Brady went to the sideline where he was embraced by Belichick. Moments earlier, while sitting on the bench, Brady was shown on the video board with soaked hair. He pumped his fist in the air 12 times then slapped hands with teammates. One play after Luck threw an interception to Darrelle Revis late in the third quarter, Blount ran 13 yards for the touchdown that made it 38-7. One fan held up a sign: No Luck In Our HouseIts a very disappointing loss, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. Well learn from this. Well grow from this.Eight days after baffling Baltimore with a four-man offensive linemen formation, Belichick called a pass to left tackle Nate Solder that resulted in a 16-yard touchdown that made it 24-7 with just under five minutes gone in the third quarter.Weve been practicing that for years, Solder said. The stars were aligned. The Patriots kept rolling with touchdowns on each of their next three series — a 5-yard pass from Brady to Rob Gronkowski, and Blounts runs of 13 and 2 yards. He made some great cuts in not good conditions, Belichick said of Blount. Hes a tough guy to tackle. All that added up to a shot at another championship for the Patriots, who lost Super Bowls to the New York Giants in the 2007 and 2011 seasons.Turnovers led to two of the three touchdowns in the first half.Josh Cribbs fumbled a punt after the Patriots went three-and-out on their first possession andDarius Fleming recovered at the Colts 26. Six plays later, Blount scored on a 1-yard run.The Patriots took a 14-0 lead with just over a minute left in the first quarter on Bradys 1-yard pass to James Develin. The Patriots were driving again before Brady was picked off by DQwell Jackson. Luck marched the Colts 93 yards to a 1-yard touchdown run by Zurlon Tipton with 4:54 left in the half. Then the Colts defence came up with a big stand, forcing Brady into three straight incompletions from their 3. The Patriots settled for Stephen Gostkowskis 21-yard field goal nine seconds before intermission. And then the Patriots dominated. I never thought we would go out like this, Colts safety Mike Adams said. It definitely caught me off guard.Notes: Brady passed Peyton Manning (6,800 yards) for most yards passing in the post-season with 7,017. ... In four games against the Colts, Luck has thrown six touchdowns and 10 interceptions. ... Indianapolis kicker Adam Vinatieri set an NFL record with his 30th post-season game, one more than Jerry Rice, but missed a 51-yard field goal attempt. ... The Patriots improved to 17-4 in home playoff games.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Daniel Carlson Jersey . The club says its first-choice centre back "underwent medical tests on Wednesday morning" which confirmed he has injured his right hamstring. The injury was caused in the second minute of Tuesdays 4-1 league win over Real Sociedad in the Camp Nou when teammate Sergio Busquets accidentally struck Mascherano just above the knee with an outstretched boot. Daniel Carlson Vikings Jersey . I kept my eyes focused up on the camera during each approach. I just tried to stay focused on my form, as I didnt know what the ball reaction was. I was quite emotional at the end. I did not actually see any of the shots in the game until I got home and watched the video. Randy Moss Vikings Jersey . LA (SportsNetwork. OAKLAND, Calif. -- James Shields pitched quite a gem for Kansas City. It certainly helped that Oakland abandoned its usual patient approach at the plate. Shields pitched eight sharp innings for his first win in nearly a month, and the Royals beat the Athletics 4-2 on Sunday. "This team was a free-hacking team today, which is not really their game," Shields said. "They have a bunch of hitters over there that were being aggressive and I was able to execute my pitches early in the count." Shields retired his first 15 batters before Josh Reddick hit a leadoff homer in the sixth. Alberto Callaspo then had a one-out single before Sam Fuld lined into a double play. The 32-year-old Shields (10-6) allowed two runs and four hits. He walked none for the fifth time this season. "You watch the way that hes pitching, its like, OK boys, lets just give him a couple runs and hell take it from there," Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. "A good indicator for him was he was managing his pitch count." Shields threw 102 pitches while helping the Royals to their ninth win in 12 games. "As far as Im concerned we can match up with anyone, any team, any starting rotation," Shields said. "As long as we go toe to toe with those guys were going to be in every game." Reddick homered twice, getting to Shields again in the eighth. The As have the best record in baseball at 67-43, but have sputtered offensively since trading cleanup hitter Yoenis Cespedes to Boston on Thursday in a deal for ace Jon Lester. They lead the stacked AL West by one game over the Los Angeles Angels, who beat Tampa Bay 7-5 on Sunday. Oakland was without injured leadoff hitter Coco Crisp, though it hardly mattered the way Shields was pitching. Shields allowed only three balls out of the infield through the first five innings.dddddddddddd One of them was a deep fly to centre by Josh Donaldson in the first, the closest Oakland came to getting a man on base before Reddicks home run. "We just havent been our best offensively here," As manager Bob Melvin said. "Shields was using all his pitches, going to the change, to the cutter, and he had good command." Shields got his first win since he beat his former team, Tampa Bay, on July 7. Greg Holland pitched the ninth for his AL-leading 31st save. Nori Aokis RBI single in the fifth gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead. Omar Infante followed with a two-run double and later scored on a single by Salvador Perez. All the runs came against Scott Kazmir (12-4). Reddick has four home runs since coming off the disabled list July 22. Its the sixth multihomer game of his career and second this season. KAZMIRS STREAK AT HOME ENDS Kazmir lost at the Oakland Coliseum for just the second time this season. Its also the first time since June 24 that the left-hander allowed more than two earned runs. CLOSING IN ON 800 It was Yosts 798th win as a manager, moving him one ahead of Melvin for 76th on the career list. TRAINERS ROOM Athletics: Infielder Nick Punto was placed on the 15-day disabled list after he strained a hamstring rounding third base on Saturday. ... Crisp (neck) took swings in the batting cage but there is still no timetable for his return. Crisp has not played since July 26. ON DECK Royals: Left-hander Danny Duffy (5-10) pitches the series opener in Arizona on Tuesday. Duffys 2.42 ERA is the fourth-lowest in the AL among pitchers with at least 100 innings. Athletics: Right-hander Jeff Samardzija (2-1), who has allowed at least one home run in each of his previous four outings, starts against Tampa Bay on Monday. ATLANTA - John Smoltz completed a unique path to baseballs Hall of Fame. The right-hander, who flourished as a starter and closer for the Atlanta Braves, was elected in his first appearance on the ballot Tuesday. Smoltz joins former teammates Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, who were inducted in the Hall last summer along with their Atlanta manager, Bobby Cox.Smoltz spent 12 seasons as a starter, winning the 1996 NL Cy Young Award, before 3 1/2 years as the Braves closer. He returned to the rotation, becoming the only pitcher with 200 or more wins and 150 saves, finishing 213-155 with 154 saves. It was a potentially difficult career for Hall of Fame voters to judge.I would argue theres nobody like me to compare, Smoltz said.He was picked on 455 ballots (82.9 per cent). He will be joined at the July 26 induction ceremony in Cooperstown, New York, by Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and Craig Biggio.Smoltz, Maddux and Glavine led Atlanta to 14 straight post-season appearances from 1991-2005, but only one World Series title in 1995.I was given an opportunity to go 14 straight years, Smoltz said. I dont think anyone else will have the opportunity to do that. Yeah, there was a little part of me that sits there and goes My gosh, we could have won a few more and Why couldnt we get it done? But when I look back, and I started out with three consecutive 100-loss seasons, it was the greatest run in sports. I know the end result is what we get known for ... winning rings, but at least we got one. No doubt we should have had a few more.Maddux is eighth on the career list with 355 wins and Glavine 21st with 305.The three of us share such a unique bond that I dont think anyone feels any different than the other person, Smoltz said. Though I can tell you, Im not in their class when you talk about the numbers they put up. Im probably not in anyones class because of the strangeness of my career and the uniqueness of what I did. It kind of sets me apart a little bit.Smoltz attended last years ceremony and said he resisted the temptation to ask Glavine and Maddux about the process.I didnt want to say anything until this day came, and it has come, he said.Smoltz thrived in the post-season, posting a 15-4 record and 2.67 ERA. He missed the 2000 season while recovering from Tommy John elbow surgery, one of five arm operations, and suggested the shift to the bullpen in 2001. He had 11 saves that year before adding 55 in 2002.In kind of a cruel way, one year of 55 saves kind of undid 14 pretty good years of starting, he said. People started saying, Well, this is what hes always meant to be. This is great. This is going to get him in the Hall of Fame. I was quite perplexed, to say: How can 14 years disappear in one year?Smoltz moved back to the rotation in 2005 for his first of three straight seasons with at least 14 wins. He was 24-8 with a 2.94 ERA in his Cy Young season but said his return to a starting role set the stage for probably my most gratifying years.During a pair of news conferences, he struggled to grasp his accomplishment.I cant even at this point put myself in anyones category, let alone the Hall of Fame, Smoltz said. I think itll hit me when I get there. Im not comfortable with titles, but Im relishing this one and I will for the rest of my life.___Follow Charles Odum on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CharlesOdum Barkevious Mingo Seahawks Jersey . WASHINGTON -- Gavin Floyd had never heard the name of the piece of bone he broke inside his elbow. Manager Fredi Gonzalez didnt even try to pronounce it. But no matter how you say "olecranon," it spells more bad news for the Atlanta Braves pitching staff. Floyd, recently recovered from elbow ligament replacement surgery, fractured the bony tip of the forearm bone that sticks out behind the elbow when he threw a curveball to lead off the seventh inning of Thursday nights 3-0 win over the Washington Nationals. "It was fine until that last pitch," Floyd said. "I felt a pop." Its the latest setback for an injury-riddled staff that lost starters Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy and reliever Cory Gearrin to Tommy John surgery during spring training, upending a major plank in the Braves plans to repeat as NL East champions. "Its been a tough one, ever since spring training," third baseman Chris Johnson said. "But weve got to keep moving forward. Hopefully its nothing too bad and we can get him back soon." Floyd will return to Atlanta on Friday to be examined by team doctors. The injury is so rare that the Braves couldnt provide even a guess of a timetable for his return. A similar injury ended the career of Detroit Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya in 2010. "In the big picture, I think hes going to be OK," Gonzalez said. Floyd flexed his pitching arm awkwardly after the fateful pitch, which turned into a long foul ball by Jayson Werth down the left field line. After an examination by the Braves trainer on the mound, Floyd left the game for reliever Anthony Varvaro. "It was a weird spot," Floyd said. "It was a little sore before, but not in the area that I had surgery." Floyd (2-2) was making his ninth start since recovering from Tommy John surgery, but Gonzalez said the two injuries are not related. "What a shame," Gonzalez said. "The guy comes all the way back from Tommy John. ... I feel for the young man." Floyd had been working on a two-hit shutout. He threw only 64 pitches, walking one and striking out six to drop his ERA to 2.65 in his first season with Atlanta. "Thats the best Ive seen him look," Johnson said. "For those first six innings, he was dealing, he was nasty, so thats really a tough break." Floyds career record is 72-72 over 11 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox and Braves. "I feltt like I was getting better and better, so its definitely disappointing," Floyd said.dddddddddddd "Definitely not what I envisioned to happen. I havent had any pain since the surgery." The win moved the Braves within a half-game of the first-place Nationals atop the NL East as the division rivals opened a four-game series. Atlanta had been trending downward recently, losing eight of 12 entering the series. Johnson drove in all three of the Braves runs, two on a bases-loaded single in the fourth and another on a line drive that smacked reliever Jerry Blevins left knee in the eighth. Blevins was examined by the Nationals trainer but remained in the game to face one more batter. Jordan Zimmermann (5-4), coming off consecutive complete games, had his second straight hard-luck start for the Nationals. He lost 1-0 to Lance Lynn and the St. Louis Cardinals last Friday, and this time he allowed only two runs and seven hits through seven innings. Zimmermann has also had Tommy John surgery and naturally empathized with Floyd. "You never want another pitcher to get injured. I dont know what really happened," Zimmermann said. "Obviously, it was bad enough for him to come out of the game. Hopefully, hell be all right." KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie wore his familiar home jersey into the Kauffman Stadium interview room Wednesday and promptly apologized for what he had worn just 12 hours earlier. After the Royals had beaten the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 to take a 3-0 lead in their AL Championship Series, Guthrie showed up to his postgame news conference wearing a T-shirt that a fan had sent him that read, These Os Aint Royal. The phrase is a twist on a lyric in the Chris Brown song, Loyal. The shirt touched off criticism of Guthrie, who spent five years with Baltimore. Along with offending many Orioles fans, the shirt also ignited controversy because of the vulgar and derogatory nature of the songs original lyrics.Ive already apologized to a number of people because theres no intention to offend. If you know me, Im not a person that likes confrontation, Guthrie said. This shirt was sent to me, and it will be sent to the garbage, because thats probably where it belongs.Guthrie said he was aware of Browns hip-hop song, and that hed probably heard it about three times. But he said he wasnt aware of the reaction it might generate. He spent Wednesday morning sending out text messages to friends who still play for the Orioles and took to Twitter to apologize to their fan base.He sent me a text apologizing this morning, said Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman, a former teammate. I havent had a chance to text him back yet.Orioles manager Buck Showalter wasnt aware of the furor, though a question did touch of an entertaining exchange. When told Guthrie had worn a shirt riffing on a lyric from a Chris Brown song, he replied: Chris Brown is weighing in on the Royals and the Os in a song?Whats the original line? Showalter asked. At that point, a spokesperson for Major League Baseball pointed out that Showalters pregame news conference was being televised live, and it would be better not to fill him in.Showalter later acknowledged he had a few — ah, rather sensitive — shirts in his own wardrode, though he also said he doesnt wear them where folks will take notice.I might offend somebody, he said. One of the subplots to the ALCS since it returned to Kansas City for Game 3 has been the bravado of the young Royals, who had yet to lose in seven post-season games. Outfielder Jarrod Dyson brashly predicted the series would not return to Baltimore, and that if the Royals won Game 3 on Tuesday night, many of the Orioles would already feel defeated.Kansas City won 2-1, taking a 3-0 lead in the series. Its not bragging if you can back it up, Showalter said. Regardless of what happens in the series, it wont be because somebody wants it more than the other. It wont be because of what somebody didnt do. It would be because of what somebody did. SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Brett Connolly scored once and set up three more and Jonathan Marchessault had a pair of goals as the Syracuse Crunch defeated the visiting Toronto Marlies 6-3 on Saturday in American Hockey League action. Mike Angelidis, Yanni Gourde and Philippe Paradis also scored for the Crunch (30-30-12) while Cedrick Desjardins made 33 saves for the win. Sam Carrick, Greg McKegg and T.J. Brennan supplied the scoring for the Marlies (42-24-6), who played half the game without head coach Steve Spott after, who was ejected in the second period for abuse of the official. Toronto took the first six minor penalties of the game and found themselves down 3-0 after the first period. Angelidis opened the scoring with a power-play goal exactly one minute into the game. Paradis doubled the Crunch lead at 12:33 and Gourde added a goal late in the period while on the man advantage. Carrick put the Marlies on the board 3:29 into the second period, but Marchessault responded with two goals 2:03 apart to make it 5-1 Syracuse. Frustration boiled over for Spott and his club and at 13:42 he was assessed a game misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. Torontos Korbinian Holzer and Brad Staubitz were ejected for fighting altercations on the same play. Brennan scored in the final minute of the second for the Marlies and McKegg made it a two-goal game 4:09 into the third. Connolly, however, halted any chance of a comeback when he made it 6-3 at 17:17. Torontos Frazer McLaren was added to the list of ejected players at 12:13 of the third when he was assessed a major for charging. In all, the Marlies had 90 minutes in penalties while the Crunch had 37. Syracuse went 2 for 9 on the power play while Toronto went 0 for 1. Andrew Heaney Jersey . The Bulls seem to be getting along fine without him. D.J. "Ive just kind of been moving forward as if Im going to start the season like a regular year," the St. Louis Blues defenceman, a restricted free agent, said following a walkthrough on Monday. "Ive been working hard all summer [and Im] trying to put it behind me here for this week and trying to enjoy this process and, you know, hopefully something gets done here in the short term." Pietrangelo has spoken to Blues general manager Doug Armstrong during the camp, but the contract issue did not come up. Armstrong is part of the Team Canada management group. "Were here to worry about the Olympics and Team Canada and if it comes up it does, but were moving forwward in that process and, like I said before, were hoping it gets done," Pietrangelo said.dddddddddddd But as training camps grow closer the possibility of a hold out becomes greater. If Pietrangelo were to miss part of the season it could hurt his chances of making the Olympic team. "Im not even thinking about holding out," the 23-year-old said. "Im thinking about training camp and being there September 11th, 12th, whenever were going to start up and be ready for the first game of the season." So does that mean Pietrangelo is confident a deal will get done soon? "I think you got to be. Both sides are pretty confident something is going to get done and I think, talking to [head coach Ken Hitchcock] and Doug, thats our mindset right now: hopefully something gets done." Another chapter will be written in Ottawas CFL story when the Redblacks play their first home game in franchise history Friday night against the Toronto Argonauts. However, it will be far from the first professional football game the nations capital has seen. For almost a century they were known as the Rough Riders (not to be confused with the Roughriders from Saskatchewan). Then, after a six year absence, the city returned to the CFL with the Renegades for a short and controversial four-year stint. Now after a time where some thought it could never happen, football has returned to Ottawa with a new name, a new group of players and new optimism. Looking back at their long history, Ottawa definitely has had some proud - and not so proud - moments on and off the gridiron. The Early Years Before they were the Rough Riders, they were simply known as the Ottawa Football Club, formed in 1876. It wasnt until 1898 when they changed their name to the Rough Riders. For a five-year stint from 1925-30, they were called the Ottawa Senators before changing the name back. In the early 1950s Ottawa hosted the NFLs New York Giants for a pair of exhibition games, losing both times. They won four Grey Cup championships (1925, 1926, 1940 and 1951) before the Canadian Football League officially formed in 1958. The Glory Years The Rough Riders won five Grey Cups under the CFL umbrella from 1960-76 (1960, 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1976) with Frank Clair manning the sidelines as head coach and Canadians such as quarterback Russ Jackson, receiver Whit Tucker, running back Ron Stewart and tight end Tony Gabriel leading the charge on the gridiron. Jackson of Hamilton, Ont. is widely considered to be the greatest Canadian-born quarterback to play in the CFL and is a member of the Order of Canada, the Canadian Football of Fame and Canadas Sports Hall of Fame. He even finished eighth - and as the top Canadian - in TSNs ranking of the top 50 CFLers of all-time. Ottawa could run during those successful years as well. Rough Riders running back Vic Washington has the record for longest rushing touchdown in Grey Cup history with an 80-yard scamper during their 1968 Grey Cup victory over the Calgary Stampeders. Their final championship season came in 1976 and is probably the most notable. Burlingtons Tony Gabriel caught a deep touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Clements with just 20 seconds remaining in the final quarter to defeat their hated rivals, the Saskatchewan Roughriders 23-20. It became known as simply "The Catch" and was arguably the greatest moment in Rough Riders history as well as one of the most memorable Grey Cup plays ever. Ottawa made one more Grey Cup final appearance in 1981 against the Edmonton Eskimos - a game in which they blew a 19-point halftime lead to lose 26-23. With nine championships, the Rough Riders are fourth all-time in Grey Cup victories behind the Argonauts (16), Eskimos (13) and Blue Bombers (10). The Decline From 1983 to the end of their existence in 1996, the Rough Riders never put together another winning season and didnt win a single playoff game. As the team struggled mightily, fans stopped coming out and the franchise lost money at a rapid rate. One positive note from this era came in 1988 when Jo-Anne Polak was named co-general manager of the team, which made her the first woman to be appointed to an executive title in CFL history. On the other side of the spectrum, there was the time when Ottawa management drafted a dead man. Derrell Robertson was a defensive end who played one season with the Las Vegas Posse in 1994 during the CFLs doomed American expansion. Shortly after the season, the 27-year-old died in a car accident. With the Posse folding after just one season, all their players became available through a dispersal draft and Ottawa drafted Robertson fully believing he was alive and well. Not a great moment for a franchise that was on its last legs. The team folded in 1996, 120 years after the Ottawa Football Club played their first game against the Aylmer Club at Jacques-Cartier Square. Franchise Records Most Career Touchdowns: Bob Simpson (Windsor, Ont.) - 70 Most Career Passing Yards: Russ Jackson (Hamilton, Ont.) - 24, 592 yards Most Career Passing Touchdowns: Russ Jackson - 185 Most Passing Touchdowns in a Season: Damon Allen (American) - 34 in 1990 Most Career Rushing Yards: Dave Thelen (American) - 6, 917 Most Career Receiving Yards: Tony Gabriel (Burlington, Ont.) - 7, 484 Most Career Receptions: Tony Gabriel - 444 Back With The Renegades In 2002, Ottawa was back in the CFL game, this time with the Renegades. Hope was back in the nations capital with an entirely new franchise, but it ultimately didnt last very long. Over four seasons, the Renegades would win only 23 games and never got a sniff of the post-season. On April 9, 2006 the CFL suspended operations of the franchise after low attendance and unstable ownership from the Glieberman family. Football was done in Ottawa - again. A New Hope In 2008, a group led by Ottawa 67s owner Jeff Hunt was awarded a conditional CFL franchise that would become the Redblacks. After getting approval for a redevelopment of Lansdowne Park and the hiring of general manager Marcel Desjardins as well as head coach Rick Campbell, Ottawa was finally ready to start putting another team together. Receiver Fred Rouse, defensive lineman Dimetrio Tyson and defensive back Nick Turnbull became the first signings in franchise history. They would later sign free agent and veteran quarterback Henry Burris to a contract. The Redblacks have gone 0-2 so far in 2014, losing games on the road to the Blue Bombers and Eskimos. With a rejuvenated fan base and stable ownership along with a fairly strong team by expansion standards, this version of Ottawa football seems like its here to stay. And thats all football fans in the nations capital want to hear. Glen Rice Jersey . No, the San Antonio star didnt announce retirement plans during an off day at the NBA Finals on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Boll had two goals and one assist with 126 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Blue Jackets in 2011-12.ABERDEEN -- Justin Rose set up a chance to capture back-to-back titles by shooting a 5-under 66 at the Scottish Open on Saturday to move into a share of the lead with Marc Warren after three rounds. Rose and Warren (67) are on 10-under-par overall at the warm-up tournament for the British Open, one shot clear of Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden (68). Nearly three weeks after winning the Quicken Loans National at Congressional, Rose hass kept up his strong form despite struggling with hayfever and, more recently, sinus problems.dddddddddddd Warren, who held a three-shot lead midway through the third round, is looking to avenge a final-round collapse at his home Scottish Open in 2012. Rory McIlroy (68) and Phil Mickelson (70) were unable to mount considerable challenges to the leaders and are seven and eight shots off the lead, respectively. There is no doubt that Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa was the one responsible for spoiling Brazils hopes of another World Cup victory at its home tournament.QUEBEC -- Eugenie Bouchard wasnt thrilled with her play, but she was more than happy with the end result as she helped move Canadian womens tennis to new heights. The Montreal native won both her singles matches in a playoff tie with Slovakia, including the clinching match on Sunday, as Canada advanced to the 2015 Fed Cup World Group. Bouchard, at No. 18 in the WTA singles rankings, beat Jana Cepelova 7-6 (6), 6-3 in front of a spirited home crowd on the campus of Laval University. The win gave Canada a 3-0 lead in the best-of-five tie, and moved the Canadians into the elite World Group for the first time. "I wasnt happy with my level of play in both of my matches, but I am proud that I managed to win them both," said Bouchard, 20. "It was a difficult adjustment for me to switch to hard courts from clay, but sure both victories feel great. "It feels great to know that weve made history here. I played a lot of matches for Canada in the Fed Cup, and I won most of them, so I am proud that I kind of lead this team to the World Group." On Saturday, Bouchard beat No. 137 Kristina Kucova 7-6 (0), 2-6, 6-1 in a close match, to give Canada a 2-0 advantage, after teammate Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Que., defeated Cepelova 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Canada will now join the eight best teams on the planet in the World Group. A June 4 draw will determine Canadas next opponent, and whether that tie will be held at home or on the road in 2015. "Its a huge accomplishment in my opinion," team captain Sylvain Bruneau said. "Weve never been there. It all started with last years win over Columbia, then we beat Ukraine, a team that was ranked well ahead of us, then Serbia, and now Slovakia." Joining Bouchard and Wozniak (ranked No. 157) on the Canadian team were Torontos Sharon Fichman (No. 89) and Ottawas Gabriela Dabrowski (No. 199) Fichman and Dabrowski lost to Slovakia Janette Husarova and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 4-6, 7-5, (9-11) in a doubles match later Sunday. After each team took a set, and with the 10-point tiebreakk tied 9-9, Fichman missed her final two shots to hand Slovakia the doubles victory.dddddddddddd Because Canada had already defeated Slovakia in the tie, the match was simply a formality. Bruneau said playing in the World Group will test Canadas depth. "We have to keep improving," he said. "Eugenie has to play at the level she is capable of, Aleksandra Wozniak needs to stay healthy, and Sharon Fichman -- who is still young at 23 -- can play both singles and doubles for us. We simply need depth, because there are no weak teams in the World Group, and many of the teams that play to qualify for the World Group have players ranked in the top 20." Bouchards win Sunday, particularly her strong second set, was crucial for Canada because she was struggling on Saturday and was very unhappy with her level of play. "I have to play much better, have to find consistency in my game," said Bouchard after her Saturdays win over Kucova. She struggled with that rhythm again on Sunday in a very close first set. Cepelova took a 5-3 lead, but just like during her match against Wozniak, she couldnt finish off points and lost a first set tiebreaker. Bouchard jumped to a quick 5-0 lead in the second set. When it looked like the last points would be just a formality, Cepelova put up a fight winning three games in a row and pushing Bouchard to make unforced errors. Serving for the match, Bouchard settled down and won last four out of six points to seal the victory. "It was a very good match" said Cepelova. "Just like yesterday I had my chances in the first set and couldnt close, but Eugenie was playing very well in those moments putting a lot of pressure on me." "We are very said as a team because we are not going to play in the World Group" added Cepelova. "It was very tough playing without our top three players (Dominika Cibulkova, Daniela Hantuchova and Magdalena Rybarikova) but Canada definitely deserved to win this tie. I think they are going to do very well in the World Group." The Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets will try to get their 2013-14 playoff quests off to a good start on Tuesday, as the clubs battle in a season-opening clash at Rexall Place. Listen to all-day coverage on TSN Radio 1290 in Winnipeg and TSN Radio 1260 in Edmonton. Also, TSNs Ryan Rishaug will be filing news and videos from the morning skate on TSN.ca. The Oilers open this season at home after missing out on the playoffs for a seventh straight season in 2013. Meanwhile, Winnipegs postseason drought is only slightly shorter, as the franchise last qualified for the playoffs in the spring of 2007 when the club was still known as the Atlanta Thrashers. Winnipeg missed out on the postseason by eight points in 2011-12 and by a mere four points last season. As part of the NHLs realignment plan for this season, the Jets are moving from the East to the West, conference wise, to join the Central Division, which expects to be much tougher than the clubs previous home in the now- defunct Southeast. Not only will the Central be the home of the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, but the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild also expect to challenge for the division title, while the Jets, Colorado, Dallas and Nashville simply try to stay afloat. Claude Noel is back for a third season behind the bench for Winnipeg, but he could be in the hot seat if the Jets struggle to find their footing in their new surroundings. The good news for Noel is there is no shortage of talent in Winnipeg, where Evander Kane leads the offense and blueliners Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom create havoc from the back end. Byfuglien did suffer a lower-body injury in Winnipegs final game of the preseason, but is expected to play in Tuesdays opener. The Jets also added forwards Devin Setoguchi and Michael Frolik via trades this summer, but time will only tell if those moves are enough to help Winnipeg keep pace in a new division and conference. Winnipeg netminder Ondrej Pavelec has proven himself to be a workhorse over the years, but there are some folks who question his ability to be a dependable No. 1 goaltender. The Czech will get plenty of chances to prove himself worthy this season, beginning with a start in Tuesdays opener. Pavelec played in 44 of Winnipegs 48 games in 2013 and was the clubs starting goaltender 43 times while recording a 21-20-3 record. However, his 2.80 goals against average and .905 save percentage were hardly impressive numbers. Still, with Al Montoya returning as the backup, Pavelec is the undisputed No. 1 netminder once again. The Oilers have stockpiled draft picks during its recent rebuilding phase, but there is reason to believe the club is ready to make the transition to playoff contender in 2013-14. Since losing to the Carolina Hurricanes as an upstart eighth seed in the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals, the Oilers have yet to make it back to the postseason, giving this once-proud franchise the longest current playoff drought in the NHL. Even worse, the Oilers have rarely been competitive during the downturn, as the seven-season playoff drought includes four last-place finishes and only two seasons of 80 points or more. The Oilers finished 10 points out of a playoff spot during last years lockout-shortened campaign and it wasnt long before the heads began to roll. General manager Steve Tambellini was fired in mid-April and replaced by Craig MacTavish, who had previously coached the club from 2000-09. MacTavish then fired head coach Ralph Krueger after his first season at the job and replaced him with Dallas Eakins, Edmontons fifth different head coach in the last six seasons. Eakins, who was the head coach of the AHLs Toronto Marlies over the last four seasons, will make his debut as an NHL head coach in Tuesdays opener. The turnover didnt stop with management or coaches, however, as MacTavish also chose to part ways with players like former captain Shawn Horcoff, fellow forward Magnus Paajarvi and defenseman Ryan Whitney. Taking over as captain for Horcoff is defenseman Andrew Ference, who signed a four-year deal with the Oilers this offseason after spending the last seven seasons in Boston. The 34-year-old is an Edmonton native and is excited just to be playing with his hometown club, let alone serving as the Oilers captain. "To know that Im able to come back to my hometown and be so extremely proud to pull on the jersey, letter or not, I know how fortunate I am to have that kind of path in a career like this," said Ference. "It really is an ultimate privilege and honor to just have that jersey on in the first place." Under Eakins, the Oilers, who are loaded with talented and highly-touted players stockpiled through the draft, are expected to play with more grit and determination, or the roster upheaval could claim more victims. Although Edmonton is stacked with offensive potential, the club finished 21st in the league in even-strength goals in 2013. Eakins would like to see an improvement in that area this season, but it could be hard in the early going with forwards Sam Gagner (broken jaw) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (offseason shoulder surgery) both on the shelf to start the season. Last season, Devan Dubnyk supplanted veteran Nikolai Khabibulin as Edmontons starting goaltender and enters this season opener with the No. 1 job all to himself. Khabibulin departed to sign a free-agent deal with Chicago and the Oilers replaced him with Jason LaBarbera, who at 33 years of age seems to be a better fit as a backup option than his 40-year-old predecessor. Dubnyk performed well under difficult circumstances for the Oilers last season, facing a ton of rubber on a nightly basis thanks in part to a defense that had a rough time getting the puck out of its own end. Still, the 27-year- old managed to record a strong .920 save percentage to go with a 2.57 goals against average and 14-6-6 record in 2013. Because they were in different conferences last season, the Jets and Oilers never faced each other during the lockout-shortened campaign when teams only played clubs from within their respective conferences. Edmonton has taken the last two meetings against the Jets, who are 2-6-0 with a tie in the past nine encounters between these franchises. Kenneth Faried Nuggets Jersey . He insists hes not counting. Lacazette, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, has also been ruled out of the game against PSG.The result suited both teams as Monaco, which has conceded just one goal in its last 13 matches in all competitions, drew level on points with fourth-placed Saint-Etienne, nine points behind the leaders. This is the minimum result we wanted, to leave Monaco nine points behind us, Lyon coach Hubert Fournier said. We had a good first half, without exposing ourselves to their counterattacks. The second half was more difficult, it was a test of our mental solidity. And we did not flinch. Without Alex, everybody did something extra, against the best defensive team in Europe. Both teams made a cautious start to an entertaining first half in which Lyon monopolized possession. In the absence of Lacazette, Nabil Fekir shared the attacking duties with Yassine Benzia — with the two youngsters creating a couple of good chances.Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic put on another flawless performance, coming out on top of a duel with Fekir in the 15th minute with a superb save before brilliantly pushing away a powerful 30-meter free kick from Corentin TTolisso on the half-hour mark.ddddddddddddThe hosts again relied on their iron-clad back four but were also a threat. Leonardo Jardims players had the best chance of the match when Dimitar Berbatov powered his header onto the post in the 17th, with Lyon keeper Anthony Lopes looking well beaten.Moncao had a goal disallowed early in the second half when Joao Moutinhos strike went straight in without any player touching the ball after the referee had awarded the hosts an indirect free kick.As Monaco gradually took control, Fekir missed a chance to break the deadlock against the run of play in the 60th minute. Playmaker Yoann Gourcuff set him up with a through ball but the forward could only send his shot wide.In rainy conditions, midfielder Julien Feret scored the winning goal as Caen beat lacklustre Saint-Etienne 1-0 to secure a third straight win and move further away from the relegation zone.Feret struck for the Normandy side in the 41st minute, netting his fifth league goal of the season after Nicolas Seube won the ball off Saint-Etienne midfielder Landry NGuemo and played him through.Feret almost set up another goal on the hour mark, feeding striker Herve Bazile but his back heel went just wide.Saint-Etienne, which has failed to score in three consecutive league games, remained seven points behind third-placed PSG.In Sundays other match, Bordeaux drew 1-1 at home to Guingamp.Winger Claudio Beauvue enhanced his growing reputation with his fifth goal in four games — and 11th league goal of the season — to put mid-table Guingamp ahead in the 28th minute.Defender Maxime Poundje levelled early in the second half for Bordeaux, which had midfielder Jaroslav Plasil sent off in the 78th.Bordeaux is in seventh place, while Guingamp is 11th. REGINA -- Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo was knocked out of Saturdays game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders with a suspected concussion after a hit from defensive end Ricky Foley. Trailing 7-3 in the third quarter, the Alouettes had moved from their own 37-yard line to Saskatchewans 37 when Calvillo went down.
