post game podcast spot on the WCG Podcast channel Gale Sayers Jersey , I never imagined I’d be talking about a loss. But after a lackluster performance in London against the better prepared Oakland Raiders, I was forced to work up the energy to discuss the 24-21 Chicago Bears defeat that dropped them to 3-2. The bye is up next so expect plenty of hand-wringing these next two weeks as we wonder when went wrong over the pond. While I think this was a team loss, there were two crucial fourth quarter plays that nudged the Bears closer to the L, plus the line play on both sides of the ball was a problem all afternoon. The fact that he’s never been able to replicate the dominance we saw from him in 2016 is what should give GM’s pause. That season he racked up 49 defensive stops. In the two years since, he hasn’t had more than 37. Combine that with the fact that he’s looked like a completely different player depending on the role he’s been deployed in. Collins is far more effective playing around the line of scrimmage compared to backpedaling as a deep safety. He’s not a plug-and-play safety and needs a certain job description to be effective. If you put him in that role though, I wouldn’t be too worried about his performance. Is it time for Chargers management to throw caution to the wind? - Tyler GallagherWhile I do not believe the Bolts as a team are in a Super Bowl-or-bust window yet, it is time to start making some splashy moves that help the case for Super Bowl contention in the next two to three years. (AP) — Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley might be feeling the most pressure going into Sunday’s AFC divisional-round game at New England.Bradley’s game plan of using seven defensive backs to neutralize Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson resulted in a 23-17 win. His challenge this week is coming up with the right strategy to contain Patriots QB and five-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.Bradley isn’t tipping his hand about using seven DBs for a second straight week, saying each opponent is different.“I learned through Larry Coyer when I was in Tampa about the importance of personnel placement,” Bradley said on Thursday. “We talk about personnel placement every week. I think for that game, that was more of a decision we made for that game and every week is different.”Brady said during a conference call Wednesday that the Chargers using seven defensive backs on all but one of the 59 snaps did surprise him and that it could present some difficult matchup problems if they used it again Sunday.“It’s unique. They play tough against the run Philip Rivers Jersey , but also have the speed and quickness to play against the pass,” Brady said. “They get home quickly. The quarterback is always under pressure because they have a pass rush. The secondary knows you can’t hold on to the ball forever and they jump routes.”In last year’s Week 8 game — which the Patriots won 21-13 — the Chargers played dime (six defensive backs) on 53 of 82 plays. Brady threw for 333 yards and a touchdown, but the thing for him that stuck out about that game was that New England made four trips to the red zone and had just one TD and three field goals.“They’re good at every level. They use a lot of defensive backs at different times and that creates a lot of problems,” Brady said. “They challenge you in every way. Between coaching and scheme, it is a great defense.”The Chargers’ philosophy of getting as much pressure as possible will not change this week. They did a great job of that last week against Jackson, recording seven sacks despite rushing five or more only four times in 59 plays.According to Sportradar, the Chargers blitzed on only 17.7 percent of plays, which was third-fewest in the league. In last year’s game, they did rush five or more on 10 plays and sacked Brady three times.Defensive end Joey Bosa has 6 ½ sacks in seven games since returning from a foot injury, while Melvin Ingram had a pair of sacks and a fumble recovery.“Our defensive line has to put pressure on him. He’s not very mobile, but he does step up into the pocket and throw,” cornerback Desmond King said. “We have to bring pressure up the middle and play good defense in the back end.”Brady is averaging 2.61 seconds to throw according to the league’s Next Gen stats. He will be the third-quickest QB they have faced this season Womens Kellen Winslow Jersey , as Oakland’s Derek Carr and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger averaged 2.55 seconds. The Chargers sacked Carr in two games and got to Roethlisberger once.Brady presents much of the same challenges as Roethlisberger in extending plays and reading coverages.“The way he handles the offense, he’s been in that style of offense for many years, so they’re on the same page,” Bradley said of Brady and the Patriots. “Their offense operates with precision, and they’re all on the same page. As you watch it, you can see it all come together for them.”Besides getting pressure on Brady, another focus will be on taking the running backs out of the passing game. Patriots running backs were targeted a league-high 157 times, while the Chargers allowed 7.0 yards per pass attempt to running backs, which was eighth-worst in the NFL.The best matchup might be Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski against Chargers safety Derwin James. Los Angeles goes into the game allowing only 6.3 yards per pass attempt against tight ends, which was second in the league.“We have to play sound football and correct mistakes. We have to take a look at the notepad between plays and see what windows of opportunity he had and close them up,” defensive tackle Damion Square said. “You can’t try to be overwhelming and get out of place or Tom will find out. Everyone has a job to do.”

There are five major factors that I’ve outlined that point to a less successful season for Sean McVay & Company:1.Injury luck. They’ve been the healthiest team over the past 3 years.2.They have roughly 2 http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-carson-wentz-jersey ,500 snaps to replace on the offensive line.3.Defenses cracked the code to the McVay offense last year, whether he can fully adjust remains to be seen.4. Close games. 6-1 in one score games, 4-0 in games by a field goal or less. History tells you that those results are more prone to fluctuate from year-to-year.5. Depth, depth, depth. This could be revolutionary. The Eagles weren’t having much success running the ball. So the two groups involved in the process did something unusual. They talked to each other.Via Reuben Frank of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com, it was that meeting of the minds between the Eagles offensive line and running backs that helped solve their rushing problems Womens Isaac Seumalo Jersey , for a night at least. After entering the game 17th in the league in rushing, the Eagles ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns against a good Packers defense.“After the past few weeks, we got with them and explained what we were seeing and how we were blocking it and how they want us to block it, and how we want them to run,” Eagles guard Brandon Brooks said. “In the middle of practice, man Chuck Bednarik Jersey , if we didn’t like the way it was ran? ‘Hey! This is where you need to run it, this is where we’re blocking it.’“I think we just held each other accountable. If we didn’t like how a play went at practice, we would start over. If we didn’t like the execution of a play, we would start over. If we didn’t like how a running back was running the ball or how we were blocking it for him, we would just do it over until we were all on the same page.”Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders ran for 6.1 yards per carry, the kind of performance they haven’t had this season (the Eagles were 25th in yards per carry). That kind of turnaround was needed http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-herman-edwards-jersey , because the Eagles planned to attack the Packers head-on.“Doug [Pederson’s] plan was to just keep pounding the ball and that opened more stuff and when we needed to pass the ball, we were able to do it and we got first downs,” Sanders said. “Big thanks for the O-line. They played their ass off the whole game opening up holes for us.”And all it took was talking about a problem, realizing a common goal, and taking steps to solve it.
JACKSONVILLE Womens Yannick Ngakoue Jersey , Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars likely will be without starting left tackle Cam Robinson for their season opener — and maybe longer. It’s a potentially significant setback for an offense that was so ravaged by injuries in 2018 that coach Doug Marrone completely revamped his approach to training camp and the preseason this year. Marrone simply wanted to get to the regular season as healthy as possible. No chance now.Robinson injured his right knee in practice Thursday — it gave out during a non-contact, pass-blocking drill — and was listed as doubtful to play against Kansas City. Marrone said he didn’t have knowledge of test results.“You know what I’ve learned around here?” Marrone said. “I just take things day by day, and the guys that can play, play, and the guys that can’t, they just tell me. What else am I going to do? I’m not a doctor. Can’t predict anything. I have no clue whatsoever.”It’s not the knee that sidelined Robinson for 14 games last season. He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against New England in Week 2 and spent the last 11 months working his way back.Making matters worse for the Jaguars DJ Chark Jersey , backup offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi was ruled out because of a nagging hamstring injury. That leaves second-year pro Will Richardson to make his first career start — and not at his usual position. It also means the Jags will have two tackles making their first career starts against the Chiefs; second-round pick Jawaan Taylor is the team’s starting right tackle.A fourth-round draft pick from North Carolina State in 2018, Richardson spent most of training camp vying for a starting spot at right guard while also getting reps at right tackle. Now he will shift over after two days of practice and get tasked with blocking standout pass-rusher Frank Clark, who recorded 35 sacks the last four years with Seattle. Clark signed a five-year, $104 million deal to join Kansas City in free agency.Richardson last played left tackle for a kneel-down play during his senior season in college.“I haven’t gotten as much time there as I would like, of course, but at the same time http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.-j.-cann-jersey , I’ve been playing tackle all my life,” Richardson said. “It’s just about taking the little things and taking them over to the left side.”Richardson has been one of the team’s biggest surprises of training camp. He missed all of last season because of a knee injury, but blossomed into a versatile backup and potential starter in Year 2. Several assistant coaches and front-office personnel believe he will be a long-time starter in the league.“I just couldn’t even imagine all this going on my rookie year,” Richardson said. “It was just enough for me to learn the right tackle position and getting accustomed to an NFL offense let alone trying to learn the right tackle as well as two other positions (and) switching sides.“I feel like this year I’m definitely in a lot better stage to handle this predicament that they’re putting me in and not only just handle it, but do well at it. That’s my main goal: to go out here and not only show them that I can play it, but show them I can play good.”Also on the injury report: defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (elbow) is questionable and rookie tight end Josh Oliver (hamstring) is out. Eric Kush Jersey , even if lately he hasn't given Miami Dolphins fans much to cheer about.Tannehill's wife recently gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Stella. They also have a 2-year-old son, Steel."We're settling in nicely to a family of four," Tannehill said after practice Wednesday. "I put a lot of time and energy and effort into what I do here. But whether it's good or bad, I go home and my little guy runs up to me — 'Daddy! Daddy!' — and it definitely warms your heart and puts a smile on your face."That's in contrast to the frowns Tannehill's play has elicited lately, and he knows it. He performed poorly in ugly losses the past two weeks, inspiring hopeful talk among his many detractors that 2018 will be the final season for the Dolphins' Tannehill era.To quiet the critics, he'll need a dramatic turnaround Sunday for Miami (3-2) against the Chicago Bears (3-1) and their No. 2-ranked defense. And he might not have a lot of help up front, with two linemen out for the season and left tackle Laremy Tunsil limited in practice after suffering a concussion in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.Tannehill's offense has scored only one touchdown in each of the past two games. To go with the sputtering attack, he had three turnovers in the second half against the Bengals , with two of them returned for scores."I have to play better," Tannehill said. "I have to take care of the football. That's what it comes down to http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-roquan-smith-jersey , eliminating the turnovers. You eliminate those and we'll be in good shape."Doing so with the offensive line so banged up will be a challenge, because a longstanding knock on Tannehill is that he's prone to poor decisions when facing pass-rush pressure. This year it has been a problem for Tannehill only recently, coach Adam Gase said."I thought we were good the first three weeks," Gase said. "He had some touchdown passes when he had pressure. We just had a couple of bad choices, this last game especially."Gase has been Tannehill's staunchest defender since becoming coach in 2016, and there's no sign of his loyalty wavering. The backup quarterbacks are journeyman Brock Osweiler and the unproven David Fales, so there has been no speculation Tannehill might be benched. But his salary cap hit in 2019 is $26.6 million, which is sure to influence the Dolphins' decision about whether to bring him back next year. There's still lots of time to salvage this strange season, which has the Dolphins tied for the AFC East lead even though they have been outgained by 472 yards. Tannehill said he can lead a turnaround by tempering his tendency to be too aggressive at times in his decisions."That's what got me in some trouble last week," he said. "It's hard, right? You want to stay on the attack. You want to be the aggressor. It's kind of anti-intuitive to come off the gas and have a big-picture mentality. That's something I have to work at and will get better at."After 82 career starts, Tannehill's still pledging to improve. Mike Williams Jersey , but l absolutely love the days of the NFL Combine where we can watch some of the largest humans on the planet run around and attempt to giddy-up with all that junk in..."I don’t know about you guys, but l absolutely love the days of the NFL Combine where we can watch some of the largest humans on the planet run around and attempt to giddy-up with all that junk in their trunk. This year’s crop of hog-mollies weren’t necessarily the most athletic group in recent years but there weren’t a ton of surprisingly un-athletic prospects, either. In a draft where the Chargers could use another new face or two to reinforce their front five, it may be tough to land an instant-impact prospect outside of the first two rounds but there’s good news: this draft is so deep with talent around the Bolts’ defensive needs that they could absolutely wait into early day 3 and still come out with a high-upside player. So in a position group that didn’t offer a ton of “wow”, here are my Winners and Losers from Friday’s workouts.WinnersGarrett Bradbury - C - North Carolina StateThe consensus top center in the class, Bradbury is an elite combination of size. speed, and quickness. His 4.92 forty was good for third among offensive linemen while his 34 reps on the bench press were good for second. His lower-body explosion numbers (31 in. vert, 104 in. broad) translate from his film which should have NFL teams salivating at the chance to grab the next uber-athlete at the pivot.Chris Lindstrom - OG - Boston CollegeLindstrom has been a big hit since the Senior Bowl when him and Dalton Risner of Kansas State became bros and started hooting and hollering their way through drills and team sessions http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-darius-philon-jersey , quickly becoming fan-favorites.The former-Eagle posted the second-fastest forty by an offensive linemen and exhibited the excellent movement skills that have made him one of the top offensive guards in this class. His 4.91 was behind only Texas A&M’s Erik McCoy (4.89) and his 117 in. vertical jump was second only to Washington State’s Andre Dillard.Andre Dillard - OT - Washington StateMy personal favorite player at the position this year, Dillard came in a took care of business. At a hair under 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, Dillard was one of four offensive linemen to run a sub-5.0 forty time, joining Bradbury, Lindstrom, and the aformentioned McCoy.His 4.96 was fourth-best while the fleet-footed tackle notched the furthest broad jump among the group at 118 inches.Dillard is far and away the best and most naturl pass protector in this class. While I was in Mobile, it was oh-so apparent and the biggest reason why I have coveted Dillard for the Chargers over last few months.LosersGreg Little - OT - Ole MissAs a former five-star recruit in high school, Little chose Ole Miss and went on to start most of the games during his three years in Oxford. On film Womens Adrian Phillips Jersey , Little is a mammoth of a man with some unrealistically light feet and some real power behind his paws when he decides to deliver a blow to unsuspecting defenders.Listed by the team at 320+, Little came into the combine at 310 pounds, likely to help his chances of running faster and jumping higher. This was not the case.Aside from his broad jump, which was sixth-best among OL at 113 inches, his forty time was second-worst among his position (5.33) while his vertical of 25 inches was “good” or third-worst. For a guy billed to be a potential first round pick, with all the fundamental shortcomings he has at the position, I’m not sure anyone takes a stab at Little on day one anymore.David Edwards - OT - WisconsinAs a former quarterback in high-school who was initially committed to Wisconsin as a tight end recruit, I expected Edwards to test somewhere among the top of his peers but that just wasn’t the case for the former-Badger.His 5.28 forty Drew Kaser Jersey , vertical jump (25.5 in.), and his broad (99 in.) were all near the bottom of the position group and this had to be quite the surprise for the 6-foot-6, 308-pound tackle who some deemed to be one of the more athletic offensive linemen in the entire class. On the plus side, Edwards did look natural during field drills which, at the end of the day, may be what saves his draft stock. Bolts lock-up another former-Clemson wideout"On Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Field Yates reported that the Chargers have re-signed wide receiver Artavis Scott to a one-year deal that will keep hi with the team through the 2019 season.During a preseason that saw a number of different receivers flash over the four exhibition games, Scott was one of the more consistent performers week-to-week which led to a ton of praise from the coaching staff. Unfortunately for Scott http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-hunter-henry-jersey , the young wideout sustained an ankle injury prior to the regular season that kept him on the IR for the entire year.During the 2018 preseason, Scott hauled in eight catches for 82 yards and carried the ball once for another four yards.During his three years at Clemson (2014-2016), Scott caught 245 passes for 2,480 yards and19 touchdowns. He also held return duties where he held a 23.7-yard average on 39 kick returns.
for contact Chuck Bednarik Jersey , though Eagles coach Doug Pederson won’t rule out the quarterback for the season opener against Atlanta on Thursday night.Pederson again told reporters in a testy exchange Sunday that he doesn’t want to publicly reveal whether Wentz or Nick Foles would be the starter when the defending Super Bowl champions host the Falcons.“I don’t want to put my game plan out there for everybody to see it and read it and teams can scheme,” Pederson said. “It just doesn’t make a lot of sense.”Wentz is returning from surgery last December to repair two torn ligaments in his left knee. Foles was the Super Bowl MVP in Philadelphia’s 41-33 win over New England.Wentz didn’t play in the preseason and only recently returned to full practice, so it seems obvious that he’s going to miss at least the first game.“We’ve got a lot of days left,” Pederson said.Running back Jay Ajayi has returned to practice after missing time. Left tackle Jason Peters and veteran returner/running back Darren Sproles are expected to play after sitting out the preseason while continuing their recovery following season-ending knee injuries last season.Pederson isn’t concerned about players being rusty.“They’ve practiced,” he said. “They’ve been in our practices. Practices are a lot tougher sometimes than games are. We’ve seen everything we need to see.”NOTES: The Eagles claimed LB D.J. Alexander off waivers from Seattle and released LB Joe Walker. … The following players were signed to the practice squad: RB Josh Adams, CB De’Vante Bausby, LB Asantay Brown, TE Billy Brown, DT Winston Craig http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-herman-edwards-jersey , WR Rashard Davis, DE Joe Ostman, CB Chandon Sullivan, C Jon Toth and WR Greg Ward.___ FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tom Brady moved the New England Patriots with ease in their Super Bowl rematch against the penalty-prone Eagles, winning 37-20 with a little help from running back James White and fifth-round draft choice Ja’Whaun Bentley. In his first action since losing in the NFL title game to Philadelphia, Brady completed 19 of 26 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday night to help stake New England (2-0) to a 27-7 halftime lead.Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles left in the second quarter with a shoulder injury after a strip sack that Bentley recovered and ran 54 yards for a touchdown.White caught six passes for 61 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown, and also ran for 31 yards in the first half of the Patriots’ 37-20 victory. The Eagles (0-2) had five penalties for 50 yards in the first quarter — including two for lowering the head to initiate contact and one for hitting a defenseless receiver — and 97 penalty yards in all. After sitting out last week’s exhibition season opener Womens Tommy McDonald Jersey , Brady led New England to scores on four of the six series he played.REDSKINS 15, JETS 13LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Sam Darnold threw an interception and showed some of the growing pains of a rookie quarterback in his first preseason start for New York, which lost to Washington on a last-second field goal by Dustin Hopkins.Darnold threw an interception, took two sacks and had a couple of balls batted out of the air. It was a far cry from the impressive debut in which the third overall pick went 13 of 18 for 96 yards for the Jets (1-1) and looked like the front-runner to win New York’s starting QB competition. The former USC star played the entire first half before giving way to veteran Teddy Bridgewater. The former Vikings quarterback had his own inconsistences, going 10 of 15 for 127 yards, a touchdown and an interception.Alex Smith was 4 of 6 for 48 yards in one series, his only work so far in the preseason for the Redskins (1-1).Hopkins made all five of his field-goal attempts, including a 40-yarder as time expired to win it.PACKERS 51 Jerome Brown Jersey , STEELERS 34GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Aaron Rodgers needed just one drive to look at home in his first action at Lambeau Field in almost a year.Rodgers connected with tight end Jimmy Graham for an 8-yard score, and Tramon Williams had a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage of Green Bay’s win.Five minutes after throwing the pick, Mason Rudolph found JuJu Smith-Schuster for a 4-yard touchdown pass for Pittsburgh (1-1). Rudolph, who is competing with Joshua Dobbs for a backup job, was just 5 of 12 for 47 yards in playing the first half.Dobbs didn’t look much better after throwing a 22-yard interception returned for a touchdown by rookie cornerback Josh Jackson in the third quarter for the Packers (2-0). But Dobbs finished strong and connected with rookie receiver James Washington for two second-half touchdowns.

Jaguars executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin wasn’t interested in making any further comments about cornerback Jalen Ramsey at a press conference on Monday Josh Lambo Jersey , but the topic of Ramsey’s absence from voluntary work did come up with head coach Doug Marrone.Coughlin drew responses from the NFLPA and Ramsey last week after he said Ramsey should be with the team despite it being a voluntary period of the schedule. Marrone said he tried to reach out to Ramsey after Coughlin’s comments, but realized that he was trying the wrong number once he finally got through to the cornerback.“Had a great talk,” Marrone said, via the . “He’s training with his brother. He’s in Nashville. He’s spending time with his family. He said he’s going to come back in the best shape he’s ever been in and he’s all fired up. That was pretty much the conversation. Coughlin will likely continue to feel differently, but the issue will likely fade from view as long as he keeps that feeling to himself from now on.

Pop Warner spokesperson Brian Heffron says the organization ”can’t imagine elected officials mandating to parents which sports their children can play.” Illinois state Rep. CTE has been linked to concussions or repeated head trauma. Heffron says Pop Warner has focused on improving the game and offers parents the option of tackle or flag football. He lined up at middle linebacker for Washington, and made 223 total tackles and 3.5 sacks in those two seasons with the team. He also went 0-4 against the Eagles in 2017 and 2018.He’s got to be looking forward to being on the Philadelphia sideline for the next two go-arounds, and even though it might not be a personal revenge game for Brown, it’s still a division matchup, and that comes with all sorts of extra emotion. Malik Jackson — Le’Veon Bell (Jets), Week 5Jackson was signed after a few years in Jacksonville, but the Eagles play the Jaguars in Week 2 of the preseason which doesn’t lend too well for any kind of revenge tour.Where he might be really amped up to make a statement will be in Week 5 when the Eagles play the Jets. (They play the Jets in Week 4 of the preseason, but no starter will likely line up during that matchup Womens Nate Gerry Jersey , so it doesn’t really count.)Early in the offseason, running back Le’Veon Bell posted a pretty unflattering clip of film to Instagram of a play involving Malik Jackson from a Jets-Steelers game in 2017. Jackson was not happy about it, and the two went back and forth for a bit about it, even though Bell later said he wasn’t trying to throw shade. Now, I love social media level petty as much as the next fan, but you can imagine that Jackson has had Week 5 circled on his calendar, when he can show Bell that he deserves more respect than the running back was showing.Andrew Sendejo — Vikings, Week 6Sure, it’s not a guarantee that Sendejo will even still be on the roster once the regular season starts, but let’s just assume for a minute that he is. The Week 6 matchup against the Vikings is bound to be the highlight of his year.Things did not end well between the safety and his former Minnesota team after eight seasons. Sendejo started his career as a special teamer and gradually earned more snaps at safety over the years, becoming a starter in 2015. Total, he made 356 total tackles, 17 passes defended, six interceptions and a forced fumble in his time with the Vikings.Sendejo spent a lot of the 2018 season with a lingering groin injury that he suffered in Week 5 against the Eagles (ironically), and was eventually placed on IR in late-November. SB Nation’s Viking site http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-wes-hopkins-jersey , The Daily Norseman, took a poll after Sendejo was placed on IR and it seemed overwhelming like the writing was on the wall for the safety in Minnesota. And that’s exactly what happened come free agency, with the Vikings deciding not to pick up Sendejo’s option for 2019. I heard from sources in Minnesota that Sendejo was particularly bitter about not being re-signed, and his introductory teleconference with the Eagles media was succinct (at best). For a guy who proudly wears and displays a “Make Football Violent Again” hat in his locker, I would think he’s looking to make a mark on the Vikings should he meet them as a player for Philadelphia this season.Jordan Howard — Bears, Week 9This wasn’t quite the same parting of ways that Sendejo had with the Vikings, in fact Howard seemed totally understanding of the fact that this was a business decision and was happy for the opportunity to be traded to the Eagles. Howard had a bit of a reduced role over his three year career in Chicago, but part of that was due to different coaches and schemes, and he still finished each season with over 1,000 yards of total offense, so it’s not like he was persona non grata, even in 2018.Plus, if the Eagles vs. Bears is going to be a revenge game for anyone, you’d have to imagine it’d be Chicago looking for some redemption from the “Double Doink” that ended their playoff run....Which revenge matchup are you most looking forward to in 2019?
last season Womens Trey Burton Jersey , and Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman are hoping to repeat that feat next season, as well." From The Desk Of...Roster AnalysisNFC North Roster Comparisons: Interior Defensive LinemenNew,41commentsChicago’s defense imposed its will on other teams last season, and Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman are hoping to repeat that feat next season, as well.CDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:NFC North Roster Comparisons: Interior Defensive LinemenTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by Rob Leiter/Getty ImagesThis series is looking at the NFC North, also known as the Black and Blue Division. After far too long, the Bears returned to leadership of the division last year—powered by the most dangerous defense in the NFL. However, despite the amazing contributions of Khalil Mack, their edge rushers were not the most dominant part of their defense. It’s time to look at another type of bruiser. Interior Linemen impose their will on the other team. They anchor a defense so that pass-rushers can get home against the quarterback, they clog lanes so that running backs get nowhere, and they disrupt the hopes of offensive coordinators. In 2018, per Football Outsiders, teams played in so-called base personnel only 25% of the time. Chicago actually played Nickel defense 76% of the time, and Dime+ another 5% of the time. Minnesota played with a true Front 7 on only 21% of snaps, and it led the NFC North with those numbers. 1). ChicagoThe Bears were actually 9th in adjusted line yards allowed in 2018, but that was the best in the division. Likewise, the Bears only stuffed 20% of runs last season, but that was still much better than the next-closest divisional contender (the 16% of the Vikings). In short, there are probably stronger defensive interiors in the NFL, but not in the NFC North.Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman were the only interior linemen to play at least 50% of defensive snaps for the Bears in 2018, with Roy Robertson-Harris (34%), Bilal Nichols (31%), and Jonathan Bullard (28%) being denied “starter” status while still clocking significant time. A good part of this is because while Chicago technically runs a 3-4 defense, modern defenses aren’t that simple, and an interior defender is frequently removed to make things more flexible elsewhere.Hicks had 21 defeats in 2018 Cody Parkey Jersey , placing him 5th among interior linemen. His relative ability was not a fluke, nor was it the Mack Effect. In 2017, he was 3rd (19), and in 2016 he was 6th (17). The man is a beast, and he is underrated. The only other interior defender to rank in the last three years is Damon Harrison, formerly of the Giants (he tied Hicks in 2018 and was 8th in 2017).Playing in just over half of the available snaps, Goldman was a beast, but Bullard and Robertson-Harris were basically replacement-level players. If I had to pick a pleasant surprise, it would be Bilal Nichols, who forced 2 fumbles and managed 7 quarterback hits (3 sacks) in just 328 snaps. Ultimately, though, this is an interior defined by Goldman and Hicks but with adequate depth and variety to provide a solid rotation.2). DetroitI struggled, mightily, to figure out which team was actually second. Because all of the other interior lines are so ragged, I landed on the remaining team with the strongest pairing of proven talent and potential growth.I previously mentioned Damon Harrison, and the record-holding Harrison* is good, and he is backed up by A’Shawn Robinson (3.5 career sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, and 13 defended passes) along with Da’Shawn Hand (3 career sacks and 4 tackles for a loss in his inaugural season). Robinson is actually a capable player, with an impressive ability to break up passes. Da’Shawn Hand is a pretty good match in a lot of ways for Bilal Nichols.Behind Hand, however, Ray Smith and John Atkins are probably not going to move the needle very much. Until I pulled official rosters for this piece, I didn’t realize Darius Kilgo was still in the NFL. In short, the Lions have Harrison and Robinson to hold down the interior of their line, but after that they are depending on potential. Harrison is good http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-khalil-mack-jersey , but when a player picked up for a conditional fifth-round pick is the bright spot of a defensive line, it’s hard to say that the line is going to spread terror through a division.*Because he was traded mid-season, Harrison is the first defensive lineman to play in 17 regular season games in the same year.3). MinnesotaLast year, the Vikings’ defensive line was held together by Sheldon Richardson (69% of snaps) and Linval Joseph (64% of snaps). Tom Johnson and Jaleel Johnson were the only other defensive tackles to play even a quarter of the snaps. With Richarson gone to Cleveland, one of those two might get the chance to step up, at least a little. I am actually a little more worried that I am underestimating Shamar Stephen, who is back in Minnesota after a 1-year sojourn to Seattle. He showed last year that he can be an adequate player when given the opportunity, and there is not a lot behind him. Still, even if he plays lights-out (for him), that just gives Minnesota a pair of starters.Hercules Mata’afa was a promising UDFA, but an ACL tear ended his pro career before it began, and while he might turn into some interesting depth, he is not likely to redefine the position. Likewise, 6th-rounder Armon Watts was, in my opinion, a potential steal. That said, I like him more as a developmental project than as a player likely to contribute heavily in 2019. The truth is that this interior will look better than it is, because the rest of the Vikings defense is so solid. However, only Joseph has proven anything so far.4). Green Bay2018 saw the Packers’ defensive line anchored by Kenny Clark (68% of snaps), assisted by Dean Lowry (66% of snaps) and Mike Daniels (39% of snaps). Clark and Lowry are fine, but whenever stat-heads talk about “replace-level players,” guys like Clark and Lowry are who they have in mind. Tyler Lancaster seemed mostly there to give a name-pal to Kyler Fackrell, but Montravius Adams showed that he was finally (probably) past the injuries that slowed down the start of his career. Green Bay drafted Kingsley Keke, but Keke was not even in the top 250-plus players I had scores on for my confidence board--which means that not one of ten draft experts thought to mention him.In brief, Green Bay’s interior defensive line is underwhelming. They count on their edge rushers and defensive backs to get the job done. Next up Gale Sayers Jersey , it’s time to look at the off-the-ball linebackers.Note: All stats come from Football Outsiders and Pro Football Reference unless otherwise noted. When possible, I used roster information directly from the teams’ own websites. With Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis complementing the former Cyclone, the team has accomplished their goal of revamping the running back position. So now what? There are several talented players still available in this year’s draft, and some of them could potentially fall to the Bears’ fourth-round selection at No. 126 overall. Coincidentally enough, many of them are defensive backs: one of the team’s biggest needs. These players are among the best players still on the board heading into the third day of the draft.Lester and Jacob break down Bears third-round draft pick, Iowa State running back, David Montgomery Julian Love, CB, Notre DameJulian Love carries a first-round grade on my big board, so the fact that he is still available heading into Day 3 of the draft is pretty surprising.Love is an instinctive, athletic and versatile cornerback who can play on the outside and the slot at a high level. He can accelerate out of his breaks very well, he has good lateral agility and has solid deep speed. As a tackler, he has very good closing speed and takes good angles to the ball carrier. His ball skills are impressive, too, as he can high point the ball well on deep balls and jump routes. Barring some unforeseen off-the-field issue, I really can’t see why Love is still available. He could possibly go off the board before the Bears pick in the fourth round, but he would be a fantastic selection if they were to pick him.Amani Hooker, S, IowaMy draft crush is still available entering the fourth round, and I am going to hyperventilate during every pick until he is selected Womens Walter Payton Jersey , after which I will either cry tears of joy or smash my head through my wall, depending on whether or not the Bears pick him. I’m emotionally stable, guys; I swear.Amani Hooker is the most intelligent safety I’ve watched in the draft process, as he can diagnose very quickly to jump routes or close in on receivers to make a tackle. He has solid hip fluidity in coverage, and he’s a reliable tackler in run support. Hooker is also a versatile defensive back who can cover as a slot cornerback, as well. He’s not a stellar athlete, sure, but he isn’t slow by any means. The Bears need a long-term strong safety if Ha Ha Clinton-Dix leaves after the 2019 season, and the Iowa product would be a perfect fit if he were to be picked.Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S, FloridaWhile not a pure strong safety like Hooker, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson has the athleticism and the versatility to project as a potential target for the Bears.Gardner-Johnson is a very good athlete with great closing speed, direction-changing abilities and hip fluidity. He has good instincts in space, as he can diagnose plays quickly and accelerate to break up passes or bring down ball carriers. He has very good range, and he has experience in single-high and two-high coverages, as well as a slot cornerback or a blitzing rusher off the edge. On tape, he displays a competitive personality around which teammates can rally. He’s shorter than six feet tall, and he tackles at the legs too often, but his upside in coverage makes him a potential value pick in Round 4.Amani Oruwariye, CB, Penn StateOut of the cornerbacks still available in the draft, Amani Oruwariye is the best at press-man coverage. Coincidentally enough, the Bears need a cornerback who can excel in that role. How convenient! The six-foot-two, 205-pound Oruwariye has length galore for the outside cornerback position. He is physical at the line of scrimmage and delivers a good jab in press coverage. His ball skills are impressive, as he can jump routes http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-jim-mcmahon-jersey , high point the ball and deflect passes at a high level. For a bigger cornerback, he also has pretty good hip fluidity. While not a standout athlete or a fantastic tackler, his physical tools are similar to those of at least a Day 2 draft pick. He would be an intriguing selection in the long run to replace Prince Amukamara.Christian Miller, EDGE, AlabamaThe Bears also could use some depth at edge rusher, and there happen to be a few talented players still available there.Christian Miller is one of those players, and he projects as a valuable rotational pass rusher early on in his career. He is a very good athlete who explodes off the ball consistently, he packs a solid punch at the initial point of contact, and he is good at bending and turning the corner. He is also pretty solid in coverage, as he has good hip fluidity and acceleration coming out of his breaks. While Miller could add some more pass-rushing moves to his arsenal, he’s an athletic prospect with room to grow.Justin Hollins, EDGE, OregonLike Miller, Justin Hollins is also a raw, yet very athletic edge rusher with promise. He ran a 4.5 40-yard dash and had a 36.5-inch vertical jump at the Combine, and that athleticism is apparent on tape. He accelerates very well off the snap, he can turn the corner and bend underneath offensive tackles, and he is a fluid mover in space. Hollins can also drop back into coverage and even showed promise covering receivers out of the slot. Though he never had truly great sack production and will need to bulk up to compete with NFL offensive linemen, his athleticism gives him a promises future in the pros.

Liuget ranks 43rd in ‘s list of top-100 free agents and is expected to draw interest on the free agent market despite coming off an injury.Liuget tore his quadriceps during a November loss to the Broncos, prematurely ended his season. He served a four-game suspension to open the season. Thus, Liuget played only six games last season, making 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He said in his radio interview that his injury should be “80 to 90 percent” healed in two months. The Eagles denied permission for the Texans to interview Joe Douglas, and the Patriots did the same with Nick Caserio and Monti Ossenfort. It’s unclear whether those four will be candidates this time around (Douglas is currently a candidate for the Jets’ G.M. vacancy), but it is clear that the Texans had previously identified multiple other candidates they thought could be a good fit. Hyde signed a three-year, $15.25 million contract in March. The Jaguars (3-3) were willing to take on the financial commitment because leading rusher T.J. He tried to return after missing two games earlier this season but re-injured his hamstring and has been sidelined since. Yeldon, meanwhile, is dealing with foot and ankle injuries.Making Jacksonville’s offense even more stagnant, the team is without its top two left tackles, its top two tight ends and its leading receiver from 2017.The 28-year-old Hyde was off to an impressive start in Cleveland. But he was taking playing time away from Chubb, who scored on two long touchdown runs at Oakland on Sept. 30 and enters Sunday’s game averaging 10.8 yards on 16 carries. Also, running back Duke Johnson had gone from being a dual threat to mainly a receiver. He’s had just 19 carries this season.Earlier this week Josh Lambo Jersey , Browns coach Hue Jackson said it was vital to get Chubb more touches. Chubb had only three carries for 25 yards last week in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.“We need to get him more chances,” Jackson said. “But I think sometimes the game changes, you get behind and you need Duke Johnson out there because that is what he does well 鈥?catch the ball and run it. Ludwig-USA TODAY SportsIn their first official move of the 2019 free agency, the Chicago Bears brought back a familiar face in interior offensive lineman Ted Larsen. The Miami Dolphins released the 31-year old Larsen last week after he played the last two seasons with them. During his time in Florida, he started 21 of the 23 games he appeared in, and overall the 9 year veteran has played in 125 games in his career. Prior to his time with the ‘Fins, he played the 2016 season with the Bears, picking up 8 starts while playing in all 16 games. Larsen can play all three interior offensive line positions and will provide good depth in case of injury. EDTShareTweetShareShareFree Agency Spotlight: OL James Carpenter and Jamon Brown William Hauser-USA TODAY SportsThe Atlanta Falcons joined the free agency festivities with a pair of signings on the offensive line. Let’s break them down. Under the tutelage of head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff, the Atlanta Falcons were never a team that was enamored with winning free agency or being one of the more talked about teams during free agency. The acquisitions of players such as Mohamed Sanu and Alex Mack were very solid and paid dividends in terms of the team’s success since 2016. During this offseason, in the midst of a fairly shallow salary cap, the Falcons chose to fix an obvious need on the offensive line by signing two veteran blockers that will alter the Falcons approach on offense. Time to break down the soon-to-be newly signed Falcons, James Carpenter and Jamon Brown.James Carpenter The former Seattle Seahawk and New York Jet was a first round pick of the Seahawks in the 2011 NFL Draft at 25th overall. At the time, Carpenter was definitely a surprise selection by Seattle after Carpenter spent his time at the University of Alabama. Four seasons in Seattle and four more with the Jets from 2015-2018 did not quite produce expectations being met from a former first-rounder, but it did establish an interior offensive lineman that is physical and packs a punch at 6’5 and roughly 320 pounds. During his career, Carpenter saw time at both right and left guard as well as right tackle. This past season http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-brian-urlacher-jersey , Carpenter saw only 624 snaps due to being placed on injured reserve in late November because of a shoulder injury. While physical and bearing solid NFL size that suggests run blocking acumen, Carpenter earned a 71.9 grade in pass blocking, according to Pro Football Focus. As a matter of fact, Carpenter has fared much better in the pass blocking aspect over the course of his career. Of note, Carpenter only committed three penalties this past season and 39 total over his entire career. Carpenter’s best fit is at the left guard spot due to his size and blocking prowess but lack of favorable footwork. At this stage of his career, further development is not likely to happen although he is in a completely different scheme. Where he showed an inability to adjust is his ineffectiveness to react properly to stunts and delayed blitzes. Thhey are not common mistakes that he will encounter fairly often. Questions still need to be answered as far as Carpenter applying that physicality of his to elevate the Falcons run game, something Dan Quinn indicated was a priority.Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsJamon Brown Focusing on the offensive line on this day, the more interesting signing for the Falcons was the acquisition of Brown. The veteran is only 25 years of age Womens Leonard Floyd Jersey , which presents a possible long term avenue for the Falcons. Brown has plenty of girth as a 340-pounder but he also has enough athleticism to interest a coaching staff. A 3rd round selection out of Louisville in 2015, Brown has spent his career with the Rams and the Giants. Brown was spread across the offensive line but spent the majority of his time at right guard. His best two seasons of his career came in 2016 and 2017 with the Rams under head coach Sean McVay. Brown was a former defensive tackle during his collegiate career so you could fairly say that he is still developing a feel for the position. For three of his four seasons in the NFL, Brown graded better as a run blocker than in pass protection and this past season, Brown was a positive on a Giants offensive line that had several moments of inconsistency. Many assume that Brown will likely be just an above average piece for his career despite him having raw tools.Brown was relied on heavily on the right side last season for the Giants and they saw an improvement in points per game and rushing yards per game once he was inserted into the starting lineup. Brown’s physicality is easy to spot on film and his skill set showcases a blocker that is a true asset in the run game. Conclusion The factor in the signings of both Carpenter and Brown is the contractual deal that is given to both. In the case of Carpenter, the veteran is being given a four-year deal and $21 million while Brown receives a three-year contract worth $18.75 million with $12.75 million guaranteed. That means at the very least that the team is looking to have both as starters for the present and the future. There probably is not any considerable upside with either one, but what is being added to the Falcons offensive line is a dose of physicality and grittiness on a unit that was without it for the past few seasons. Quinn did state during the offseason that he envisioned a more nastier team that is able to punch opponents in the mouth, figuratively of course. The expectation for both is that winning out a camp battle and starting at left and right guard would be best case scenario. Their presence mitigates an outside zone blocking aspect in the run game but still expect the Falcons to establish the run game a little more than normal, hopefully for the better. It also indicates that the team felt more comfortable with veterans to help protect quarterback Matt Ryan than rely on rookies. Could they still draft a prospect with long-term potential? Yes Eric Kush Jersey , but i’m not certain an early round prospect is needed. For those who wanted to see the Falcons get a little bigger and tougher on the offensive line, the call was answered with these new Falcons.

The Bolts are one of a handful of teams that have trekked out to Durham, North Carolina recently to meet with Jones Doug Flutie Jersey , with others including the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and the Denver Broncos.Jones is widely considered to be firmly in that second-tier of quarterbacks coming out in 2019 but also a guy that some feel may slip into the mid to late-first round conversation. The same has also been said about West Virginia’s Will Grier.A three-year starter for the Duke Blue Devils, Jones is an underrated athlete at the position who threw for over 8,201 yards and 52 touchdowns to just 29 interceptions in his career. He also compiled over 1,300+ yards on the ground and another 17 touchdowns.Following his senior season, Jones was invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl where he enjoyed one of the best weeks for a quarterback http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-trevor-williams-jersey , culminating in Senior Bowl MVP honors. In the third quarter, Jones threw for a touchdown and ran for another to rally the North squad over the South in a 34-24 victory.Top Ten Offensive Performances of 2017: #7 Tyrell Williams v. WAS Wk. 14 #7.) Tyrell Williams v. Redskins - 4 catches, 132 receiving yards, 1 touchdownAfter getting a full season of Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams together on the field, I’ve really grown to like their play-styles and how well they compliment each other. You can see it throughout the box-scores. Allen’s “catches” column is filled with numbers like 7, 9, 10 Womens Desmond King Jersey , and 11 while Williams’ stats are usually around the 3-6 range. However, while Allen’s yards per catch is closer to 15, Tyrell’s is likely somewhere in the mid-to-late twenties. It’s an awesome problem to have, if we’re being honest. A true WR1 is a beautiful thing and the ability for one player to take the majority of attention from the defense while a couple speedsters takes advantage of lapse in judgement is even more desirable. In the match-up against the Redskins, Tyrell put up a stat line that is exactly what we have come to expect from the former UDFA out of Western Oregon. On the very first play from scrimmage, with Williams lined up in the slot, he took advantage of a mismatch on a linebacker as he ran a deep crossing route around the defender for an easy catch and run for a gain of 34 yards. With 10 minutes left in the second quarter Brandon Mebane Jersey , it took the Chargers just one play to score as Williams did what he does best: be faster than everyone else.Starting in the slot on the left, Rivers motioned Williams to the other side before taking the snap. With the corner sitting back pretty far in coverage, #16 ran straight up the field, eating any cushion previously given by the defender. With a subtle step into the defenders body, Williams was able to separate just enough to cut off his deep post route. Rivers launched a perfect pass which Tyrell caught in-stride for a 75-yard touchdown catch.Williams’ last catch came at the end of the first half when he came back for the ball after seeing Rivers under duress in the pocket. With the cornerback so worried about getting deep, Williams was able to stop on a dime and give Rivers a wide open target as the defender struggled to slow down in time.Tyrell’s heroics in the first-half helped the Chargers establish a hefty 23-6 lead at the break that would never be surrendered as the Chargers walked away victorious from their week 14 match-up.
winning streak and contending for a playoff berth for the first time since 2013. While that story grabs all the headlines http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-lance-alworth-jersey , soon all eyes will turn toward the NFL Draft. When the offseason officially begins, The Chargers will be looking reload their roster at several positions. College bowl games and playoffs are just over the horizon and there are countless players that The Chargers should be monitoring over the next few months. One of the most intriguing players whose name is on the rise is Notre Dame defensive tackle, Jerry Tillery. At 6’6, 306 pounds, Tillery was originally recruited as an offensive lineman out of Evangel Christian Academy. But he was given a chance to contribute on Notre Dame’s defense as a freshman and quickly adjusted to his new position at nose guard. However it took some time for the young defensive lineman to reach his potential both on and off the field.Tillery’s production was up and down during the first two years of his college career. His character was also a point of controversy. At the conclusion of his freshman year Tillery was suspended for the Fiesta Bowl game due to violation of team rules. The following year during Notre Dame’s season finale loss to USC, he kicked one player in the head and stepped on the leg of another. Tillery publicly owned up to his mistakes and acknowledged that his maturity and accountability needed to improve. Time has passed since his incidents of unsportsmanlike conduct and Tillery has grown to be a force on the defensive line of the Fighting Irish. Through 13 games in 2017, Tillery outplayed his numbers from the previous two years combined registering 56 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and one fumble. The young defensive lineman has continued build on the momentum from his junior year. At the start of the 2018 season, he was once again moved from the nose guard position to three-technique defensive tackle and the results have yielded huge returns. Tillery delivered solid performances against Michigan, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. But his standout game came against Stanford, where he registered six total tackles, four sacks, two quarterback hits and was a constant disruption to the Stanford offense. NFLDraftScout.com Senior Analyst Rob Rang Dan Fouts Jersey , labeled Tillery as one of his biggest risers following his performance against Stanford.“This was the type of breakthrough performance that talent evaluators had been waiting for from the undeniably gifted (but previously inconsistent) defender.”As part of one of the best pass rushing defensive lines in college football, Tillery possesses all the attributes that translate to the NFL. His size, length and power give him the ability to play with good leverage off the snap. He has displayed the versatility to perform in both a 3-4 and 4-3 defensive front. But his speed is the true X-Factor to his game. Tillery is deceptively light on his feet for a player of his size. He shows quick feet off the line of scrimmage that commands double teams from offensive lineman. That speed and ability to create pressure have resulted in Tillery leading Notre Dame’s defense with seven sacks. The 20-year-old defensive lineman toyed with the notion of entering the NFL last year, but opted to return for his senior season. While his skills have considerably improved over the past two years, consistency has been the big knock against Tillery throughout his college career. Many draft analysts have been just as inconsistent when it comes to determining his player ranking as Tillery has been ranked anywhere from the low teens to the high 20’s The Chargers will have decisions to make when free agency begins in March. Brandon Mebane is 33 years old and his contract expires following the 2018 season. Darius Philon and Damion Square are both unrestricted free agents and could sign with other teams should the Bolts decide to let them walk. If the team does not sign a big name free agent, they could look toward the draft to fill the void. The Chargers have needed a dominant force along the interior of their defense for some time. The good news? The upcoming NFL Draft is stacked with multiple play makers on the defensive line. It would be in the team’s best interest to invest an early round pick on a player such as Tillery to solidify the middle of their front four. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon isn’t concerned about an injury that sidelined him for much of the fourth quarter against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.“Nah, it’s just a little upper body, but I’ll be straight,” Gordon said.Whatever pain there might have been was offset by Gordon matching a career high by scoring three touchdowns, and the Chargers holding off a late Bills comeback attempt to secure a 31-20 win.“It felt good because that just showed us what type of offense we can be,” said Gordon, who left with just over 11 minutes remaining. “It’s good to have confirmation, so we’ve just got to keep that going.”A week after putting up 541 yards but lacking finish in a season-opening 38-28 loss to Kansas City Joey Bosa Jersey , the Chargers were less productive but more efficient. Gordon scored on three consecutive drives in helping the Chargers build a 28-3 lead with 1:55 left in the second quarter. The Bills, meanwhile, continued to show signs of unraveling even though rookie quarterback Josh Allen provided the offense some semblance of a spark in his first career start, and a week after a season-opening 47-3 meltdown at Baltimore.Veteran cornerback Vontae Davis created a significant stir by leaving the team at halftime, coach Sean McDermott said. Running back LeSean McCoy did not return and was still experiencing pain in the locker room because of a rib injury. And McDermott revealed he took over the defensive play-calling from coordinator Leslie Frazier to start the second half.On Davis, McDermott said: “Pulled himself out of the game. He communicated to us that he was done.”That move didn’t sit well with Buffalo’s two senior defensive leaders.“I think the only thing to say is he’s where he needs to be right now,” tackle Kyle Williams said.Asked where that might be, Williams responded: “That’s not here point blank and simple.”Defensive end Lorenzo Alexander was equally blunt when asked about Davis.“I don’t have nothing to say about Vontae so I’ll give him a little bit more respect than he showed us today as far as quitting on us in the middle of the game,” Alexander said. “Never seen it, ever. Pop Warner. High school. College. Pros.”Davis was credited with one tackle. He’s a 10-year veteran who signed a one-year contract in free agency in March. The Bills provided Davis a chance to re-start his career after a dispute with former Colts coach Chuck Pagano led to Indianapolis cutting him in November.Davis made his Bills’ debut against the Chargers after being inactive against Baltimore last week.A message left with Davis’ agent, Todd France, was not returned. The Bills defense wilted in the first half in allowing the Chargers 17 first downs and 284 yards.Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers finished 23 of 27 for 256 yards and three touchdowns, including a 10-yarder to Mike Williams , 5½ minutes in.The Chargers defense did their part in limiting the Bills to 110 yards and two field goals in the first half.Melvin Ingram III had 1½ of the Chargers’ five sacks on a defense that was playing without Joey Bosa (foot) and Corey Liuget (suspension).Allen produced two touchdown drives in the second half http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-derwin-james-jersey , including a seven-play, 75-yard third-quarter opening drive capped by Chris Ivory’s 1-yard plunge.Allen finished 18 of 33 for 245 yards with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 38 seconds remaining, and two interceptions. It was a modestly better showing at quarterback a week after Nathan Peterman was yanked after completing 5 of 18 attempts for 24 yards, with two interceptions, and overseeing an offense that managed just one first down over 10 series.MCCOY INJUREDMcCoy was shaken up late in the third quarter when he was tackled from behind and had Buffalo center Ryan Groy fall down on him. Groy landed heavily on the left side of McCoy’s chest as he was on the ground.McCoy returned and had a 3-yard run on the final snap of the third quarter, before missing the remainder of the game.STILL HAVEN’T TRAILEDThe Chargers won their fourth straight meeting against the Bills, and haven’t trailed Buffalo since a 23-14 loss on Oct. 19, 2008.FINALLYIt took nearly 95 minutes of game time for the Bills to finally find the end zone. The drought finally ended on Ivory’s 1-yard plunge with 11:06 left in the third quarter. Buffalo was the only team not to score a touchdown in Week 1.INJURIES:Chargers: Receiver Travis Benjamin did not play because of a foot injury.Bills: RB Taiwan Jones was being evaluated for a head injury after he was tackled in Buffalo’s end zone after his helmet came off while recovering a fumbled punt midway through the fourth quarter. from Thursday night at Lambeau Field. Before the Week Four game against the Eagles http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-haloti-ngata-jersey , Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had compiled a record of 50-0-1 when his team led by 10 or more points at home. After the Week Four game against the Eagles, Rodgers now has a record of 50-1-1.Green Bay rocketed to a 13-0 lead on Thursday night, before Philadelphia woke up and made it a game. The Packers were then unable to recapture the lead after falling behind 21-13, while the game was still in the first half. Here’s another troubling stat for the 2019 Packers, as pointed out on Friday’s by Big Cat: The Packers have scored a grand total of six fourth-quarter points this year. In all games. Combined.Whether opposing defenses are adjusting to the Green Bay offense or the Green Bay offense isn’t adjusting to opposing defenses or a little of both, the Packers can’t continue to race to a big start and then try to weather the storm.Actually, that’s a microcosm for a season that included five home games in six weeks, giving them a chance to fatten up their record and then hold on as best they can to a division title or a playoff berth. Last night’s loss became a lost opportunity to bank another September win, which puts even more pressure on the Packers to go to Dallas next weekend and find a way to beat one of the best teams in the conference. With the 6th overall pick in the 2019 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, New York Giants GM ablesser88 selects ..."Dwayne Haskins, QB Womens Nate Gerry Jersey , Ohio StateLet’s get this out of the way early: Dave Gettleman is not a good GM.I’m not even going to blame him for going for Saquon Barkley over a QB in last year’s draft (that was them going for the best player available and the most surefire prospect in the draft). I’m also not even going to be hard on him for trading Odell Beckham because he had the potential to turn into a locker room cancer fast Antonio Brown style. No, Gettleman is a bad GM because of his inability to see the writing on the wall. Mainly, you have a 38 year old quarterback in Eli Manning who has been giving the Giants diminishing returns each year for the past 3 years. And now with the rumors that they are thinking of offering him an extension, there should be no mistake: he is completely delusional.Seeing as how Beckham has already been kicked out of town, now seems like the perfect time to blow everything up. And what better place to start rebuilding a roster than with the most important position on the field?Dwayne Haskins in all honesty is a bit of an enigma to me. He is in a way both the most polished and unpolished QB prospect I have ever seen, but in a situation like this it actually works out well. What I mean by that is that when you look at him, he’s got the ideal size for a franchise QB at 6’3” and 231 lbs. His arm strength is impeccable, his short and intermediate accuracy are exceptional, and he already has a feel for the game that should allow him to adapt to the NFL relatively quickly.Just to elaborate on this last part a little more, I was impressed by his ability to read his progressions for a guy with so little experience as a starter. He also seems to be very good at decision making and not throwing stupid or high-risk balls. In fact he plays it so safe that a knock on him is that he sometimes passes up too many chances that a guy with his arm talent should be able to hit.You can’t talk about Haskins without bringing up his stats. Sure, he only played as a starter for a single year but what a year it was: 4 http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-wes-hopkins-jersey ,831 yards passing, a 50-8 TD-INT ratio, 70% pass completion rate, and a gaudy 174.1 QB rating. All of this culminated in a 13-1 season for Ohio State ending in a Rose Bowl victory. Now that the positives are out of the way, I do need to bring up some things he needs to work on. His combine was rough, posting the slowest 40 time of all QBs and the second lowest vertical jump. It’s obvious that he’s not the best athlete. He also has the tendency of freaking out under pressure and his lack of mobility means that his improvising skills are lacking as well. His deep ball is also fairly inaccurate. His mechanics can be a mess at times. The biggest one for me is that he has the tendency to throw off his back foot on deep throws, which explains the deep ball inaccuracy quite well. He does have a slightly elongated release, as well as an inconsistent release point and poor footwork. However, I feel a lot of this is fixable with proper coaching. Simply working with a quality QB coach should fix most of his mechanical issues.I know that all doesn’t paint him in the best light, but there is a major factor that helps soften those blows: Eli Manning. The Giants are obviously keeping him for at least one more year, and in turn this might be the best thing for Haskins. For as much crap as we like to give Eli Wilbert Montgomery Jersey , the fact of the matter is that he’s seen it all in the NFL. He’s played in the league for 15 years and has two rings to show for it, making him a great mentor to Haskins. They are both immobile QBs who are best known for being pocket passers. Eli can help with how to deal with rushers and how to maximize his strengths while the coaching staff can get a year to iron out his mechanical woes without having to throw him to the dogs immediately. The Giants have a long way to go before they can be considered contenders again, but as long as they lay the groundwork down now they can speed up the rebuilding process greatly. Haskins is a guy who will need some time before he is ready to start, but the Giants have the infrastructure in place to allow him to develop the way he needs to in order to be successful. And once he does develop, he has the highest upside of any QB I have seen in a while. If the Giants are serious about making the playoffs before 2025 they need to get serious about finding Eli’s successor. With Haskins, they do just that. You allow Eli to have a swan song season while using his knowledge and experience to develop the heir apparent. It’s exactly what the Giants did in 2004 when Kurt Warner did the same with Eli. This isn’t going to be the perfect pick or even the best player on the board, but this is the pick the Giants need to make.
against the Kansas City Chiefs!Tres from Gainesville Womens Brad Nortman Jersey , FLQ: Should we at all be concerned about Jalen’s play this year? He isn’t getting torched, but he also doesn’t seem to be absolutely dominate. It seems like he may just be showing up and doing the bare minimum. I could be blowing this out of proportion, but I feel like I’ve seen him not give much effort on tackling somewhat regularly.A: The Jaguars have allowed just four touchdowns through the first four games. One was the cause of a breakdown in run defense, two were in garbage time to Tom Brady, and the last was because T.J. Yeldon fumbled the ball deep in enemy territory. I say all that to answer your question from a slightly different angle — you should not be worried about anyone on this defense. Jalen was to blame for a late third quarter touchdown to Chris Hogan but that’s literally it and again, it came when the Jaguars were up 24-3. I would not be worried about Jalen until you start to see him make mistakes that affect the wins and losses column. So far, that hasn’t happened.Daniel from Jacksonville, FLQ: Which team will have the longest play from scrimmage? A: The Jaguars.Brandon from Atlanta Dawuane Smoot Jersey , GAQ: It isn’t often that I have concerns about an opposing team’s offense. But Kansas City seems to have the firepower to really cause some mismatches across the field. My question is this — do you think our pass rush will be able to neutralize their passing attack? It seems like no one has slowed them down yet. A: I think our pass rush is our biggest hope for victory on Sunday. We saw last week that when Patrick Mahomes struggled it was when the Denver Broncos were able to pressure him. The Jaguars haven’t gotten as many sacks as they did at this point last season, but they’ve pressured quarterbacks consistently. I don’t think this week will be any different.Ken from Sacramento, CAQ: Do you think our defense can stop their offense? They’re just shredding teams. A: I wouldn’t call what the Chiefs did last week as “shredding” the other team.Kasey from Arkansas City, KSQ: Will we give Patrick Mahomes his first interception of the season and the Chiefs their first loss?A: Yes and yes.Hank from Orlando, FLQ: I am a fan of Leonard Fournette, but the offense is currently built around a guy that has struggled to stay healthy. Do you think the Jaguars should be looking at potential trade targets as there seems to be no one able to carry the load past T.J. Yeldon?A: To answer your second point, I don’t think there will be any trades any time soon. To answer your first — I think offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett has done a very good job moving the focus of the offense away from your more traditional inside run game to a passing game that relies on crossers, short passes http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-andrew-norwell-jersey , and yards after the catch. Give credit to Blake Bortles too, he’s played well in two of the last three games and I suspect he’ll have a big day in Kansas City as well. Until Fournette comes back, what you saw against the New York Jets and New England Patriots is the offense and as long as Blake can stay focused and complete a high percentage of underneath throws, it will win them games.Joakim from Stenungsund, SwedenQ: Who should be the most concerned — the Chiefs offense against our defense, or our offense against the Chiefs defense?A: The Chiefs offense against our defense.Mike from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CanadaQ: Am I right in thinking this game is going to say a lot about our coaching staff more than it is about our players? This is pretty much a glorified playoff game and will probably determine home field advantage. Just like Pittsburgh last year nobody expected the Jaguars to come out and score some points and have a great game plan against a conference heavyweight on the road. Do you believe our coaching staff is up to this challenge? And if so what do you believe our game plan will be?A: I think that’s a very good point about this being just as big a test for our coaching staff. We talk a lot about Jalen Ramsey vs. Tyreek Hill or Tashaun Gipson vs. Travis Kelce Womens Abry Jones Jersey , but Doug Marrone vs. Andy Reid is a matchup we’re not talking about and the effectiveness of the game plan he and the rest of the staff have put together this week will determine the outcome just as much as any other matchup on Sunday. As far as the game plan you can expect from our offense, we wrote about it in length here but the long and short of it is Tthehe Jaguars should be targeting and exploiting the middle of the field of the Chiefs defense with wide receiver Dede Westbrook. Kidding aside Lerentee McCray Jersey , winning is always a good thing and the win on Sunday probably told you more about the Dolphins than it did the Jaguars. One person who really enjoyed the win was quarterback Blake Bortles, he came in off the bench.“I mean obviously it felt good. You never want to see anybody get hurt,” Bortles said after the game. “I never want to see Cody get hurt; but to get the opportunity to go play again with those guys and be out there and share a win with them is pretty awesome.”Bortles came in for a play or two when starting quarterback Cody Kessler took abig hit and landed on his throwing shoulder, but later on came back in once head coach Doug Marrone decided the offensive line couldn’t keep Kessler upright and wanted to incorporate Bortles mobility.“Yeah. Obviously going in and running some zone-read, which was some stuff that we didn’t really do a whole lot in the game. I don’t know if they were prepared for it or not but we were able to get some plays out of that and kind of made some plays when we needed to and scored. I think the defense played incredible. It was cool to see,” Bortles said when asked if it was satisfying to hit a few throws and get some big runs. “The amount of injuries we’ve had upfront and to watch those guys kind of get plugged in different places and the way they fight and battle, it’s impressive and I’m proud to be a part of it.”The Bortles led offense still only mustered three points and the offensive line continued to struggle as it has since the injuries have taken their toll and started adding up, with another Josh Wells leaving the game with a concussion. The game was sealed with the Telvin Smith pick six http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-keelan-cole-jersey , but the first downs and clock burning the offense was able to do with Bortles’ running the ball also contributed to holding off the Dolphins.Doug Marrone declined to announce who would start the season finale against the Houston Texans and seemed to indicate Kessler was pulled because they simply couldn’t protect him, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Bortles closed out the season in large part because of his mobility. The Texans defensive line is much better than the Dolphins and if they couldn’t protect Kessler then, they certainly won’t on Sunday.Long term, it is a huge risk starting Bortles, though. It seems clear the team is ready to move on and will likely try to trade or outright release Bortles, so you don’t really want to risk him getting a serious injury in the final game. Bortles has been durable through his career, but it’s still a $21 million risk for a meaningless game in a lost season.
