ASICS first model in its long line of running retros is back again with a simplistic black and white color combination. The Asics Gel-Lyte Shoes, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, features a tonal black leather upper that mixes things up from the usual nylon mesh material, while sporting white branding and a matching midsole. Similar to a few KITH-exclusive colorways of ASICS retros that celebrated its Bleecker St. store’s grand opening back in 2014, this latest GEL-Lyte release offers up something a bit more dressed up compared to the mesh/suede stylings that have previously hit stores.
After the Black Friday on Sale recently appeared in “Spice Route”, the classic split-tongued runner is also dropping in another tasty suede colorway appropriate for fall in “Honey Ginger”. With some obvious similarities to the popular “wheat” colorway treatment, this GEL-Lyte III features a tan suede upper. But they don’t fully follow the wheat blueprint, as there’s no sign of gum rubber for the outsole. The suede up top is complemented with ripstop nylon for the tongue and collar to complete the clean fall look nicely.
