Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - DeMarre Carroll scored a career-high 25 points and the Atlanta Hawks closed out a tough five-game stretch with their fifth straight win, rallying from 13 down in the second half to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 107-104 on Tuesday night. Al Horford added 20 points and Paul Millsap scored 17 for the Hawks, who took the lead for good on Kyle Korvers 3-pointer a minute into the fourth quarter and held on down the stretch to post their 14th win in 15 games. Blake Griffin scored 21 points to lead Los Angeles, but missed an off-balance 3-pointer as time expired after the Clippers bumbled an inbounds pass with 6.4 seconds remaining. DeAndre Jordan had 15 points and 22 rebounds in the loss, the Clippers fifth in their last eight games. Carroll scored 10 of his 25 points in the third quarter to help pull Atlanta out of its 13-point hole. They played well. They came back, said Clippers coach Doc Rivers. We had to sub at some point. ... They made more plays. The Hawks have beaten five winning teams on their current streak, including the last four while leading scorer Jeff Teague has battled a strained left hamstring. Teague returned Tuesday following a three-game absence but came off the bench, scoring nine points in 24 minutes. Atlantas 14-1 stretch started almost a month ago, on Nov. 28, and has the Hawks on top of the Southeast Division. They have won eight in a row at home. We need to get better defensively, but I think in these last couple of weeks weve shown improvement, said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. We have guys who step up every night and make big plays. But weve got a lot of work left and a long way to go. J.J. Redick pump-faked Horford behind the 3-point line and leaned into him to draw a foul with 15.2 seconds left and a chance to trim LAs lead to one. But he missed the first of the three free throws. Matt Barnes tied up Korver near the baseline after the inbounds pass to force a jump ball, which Korver won. After Horford made one of two free throws to extend Atlantas lead to three, he got a hand on LAs inbounds pass at the other end. Chris Paul saved the ball for the Clippers, but Griffins desperation shot from near the right sideline hit off the backboard and the rim as time ran out. Earlier, Griffin scored nine points in the first quarter for Los Angeles, but the Hawks shot better than 56 percent for a 31-25 lead going into the second. The Clippers used a 25-5 run in the second quarter to turn a 10-point deficit into a 10-point lead. Jamal Crawford scored eight points early in the flurry and Jordan added six, helping the Clippers to a 55-45 advantage. They led 57-50 at halftime. Game Notes Korver scored 14 ... Hes got a more permanent gig now. Cundiff reached agreement with Cleveland on Tuesday, filling an unexpected hole the Browns created with less than a week left before their season opener against the Miami Dolphins. Its Cundiffs second stint with the Browns. He was with the club in 2009, when he made all six of his field-goal attempts while filling in for Phil Dawson, who was sidelined with a calf injury. Cundiff replaces the dependable Dawson, the best field-goal kicker in Browns history and second-leading career scorer who didnt re-sign after last season and is now with San Francisco. The 33-year-old Cundiff auditioned Tuesday for the Browns along with Giorgio Tavecchio, who was released by Green Bay last week. The Browns have been looking for a kicker since terminating veteran Shayne Grahams contract and releasing rookie Brandon Bogotay last weekend as they cut their roster to 53. To open a roster spot for Cundiff, the Browns placed offensive guard Jason Pinkston on the short-term injured reserve list. Pinkston sustained a high ankle sprain on Aug. 15 against Detroit and is still in a walking boot. Hes eligible to return to practice following Clevelands Oct. 20 game against Green Bay and is eligible to play in the Nov. 3 game against Baltimore. Four years ago, Cundiff picked up the slack when Dawson was hurt. He appeared in five games and made the winning field goall against Buffalo in Week 5 as the Browns beat the Bills 6-3.dddddddddddd Cundiff, who has appeared in 106 career NFL games for five teams, made the Pro Bowl with Baltimore in 2010. He made 26 of 29 field goals and led the league with 40 touchbacks that season. He wasnt as consistent the following years, and is perhaps best remembered for missing a potential game-tying 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the 2012 AFC Championship against New England. Cundiff was released by the Ravens in 2012 and kicked in five games for Washington last season, making 7 of 12 field-goal tries. He went to training camp with the New York Jets this summer and made all three of his field goals during the exhibition season but was released on Aug. 28. Cundiff has connected on 139 of 184 (75.5 per cent) career field-goal attempts. The Browns relied heavily last season on Dawson, who made 29 of 31 kicks, including all seven from beyond 50 yards. Cleveland had planned to try out veteran Dan Carpenter, but he chose to sign with the Buffalo Bills after rookie kicker Dustin Hopkins was injured in practice on Monday. Graham and Bogotay split the kicking duties throughout camp and the preseason, and it was assumed one of them would win the job. But coach Rob Chudzinski said the Browns were not satisfied with their performances -- Bogotay also had a groin injury -- and the team opted to look elsewhere despite the opener being just a few days away.
